Job Description - Senior Engineering Specialist - Electrical Systems SME

We are on a journey to make air travel more sustainable and accessible, and we're looking for an Electrical Systems Senior Engineering Specialist to lead our efforts in this exciting and challenging endeavor.



Job Summary


We are seeking for a highly skilled and experienced Electrical System Engineering Specialist to design and develop the Electrical System in a hybrid/electric Part 25 aircraft. This role is pivotal in shaping and conceptualizing the design, development, integration and certification of the electrical systems for the Evio line of aircraft and reporting directly to the Head of Avionics and Electrical Systems. As the Electrical Systems SME (Subject Matter Expert), you will be responsible for creating the ATA 24 architecture for both the high and low voltage distribution systems. The successful candidate will work closely with engineering teams, suppliers, and regulatory agencies to deliver an electrical system that is innovative, reliable, and efficient.



Key Responsibilities 



  • Technical Aircraft Electrical Systems Integration: In depth understanding of Electrical System integration process, ensuring seamless development of the high and low voltage electrical distributions system architecture. Participate in the functional hazard assessments (FHA), system safety assessments (SSA), and failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA) in compliance with ARP4761.



  • Team Collaboration: ownership of work assignments and coordinate activities between electrical system engineers, airframe designers, avionic, and mechanical systems engineering teams to achieve optimal design solutions.

  • Project Management: Clearly articulate status of progress towards individual, team and program milestones.

  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all electrical systems meet relevant aerospace standards and regulatory requirements for certification.

  • Supplier Management: Work closely with electrical system suppliers and partners to define requirements, resolve technical challenges, and ensure delivery of high-quality components and systems.

  • Testing and Validation: Participate in the testing and validation of the electrical system to verify performance and safety criteria are met.

  • Innovation and Research: Stay abreast of industry trends and technological advancements in hybrid aircraft systems integration, leading efforts to incorporate innovative solutions into aircraft designs.

  • Strategic Planning: Contribute to the strategic planning of electrical systems technologies and integration methodologies to maintain and enhance the company’s competitive edge.



Qualifications



  • Experience: Minimum of 15 years in the aerospace industry within an aircraft or OEM environment, with substantial experience in engineering, particularly through the design, development, and certification lifecycle of complex electrical systems in EASA/FAA Part 25 aircraft.

  • Expertise: In-depth knowledge of complex electrical systems, technologies, system integration, power quality and aerospace certification processes.

  • Problem-Solving: Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to address technical challenges through innovative solutions.

  • Communication: Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, capable of effectively collaborating with internal teams, suppliers, and regulatory bodies.

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field. A master's degree or higher in a relevant engineering discipline is preferred.

  • Experience with integrating High Voltage systems in Aerospace designs.
