The Opportunity


The Senior Fund Development Officer is a senior-level, donor-facing position and a core member of APC’s Resource Development team. This role drives revenue growth through innovative relationship-centered approaches that cultivate and inspire an engaging donor experience and long-term investment. Reporting to the Senior Director, Resource Development, the position advances and supports sophisticated donor strategies to secure significant philanthropic support in alignment with APC’s mission and People First values.


Working collaboratively with all members of the Resource Development team, the Senior Fund Development Officer builds and manages relationships with high-capacity donors and prospects to secure leadership-level support. With a high level of independence and professional judgement, the role advances organizational fundraising strategy through tailored donor approaches, multi-year gift opportunities and active participation in public-facing fundraising initiatives.


In addition to donor relationship management, the Senior Fund Development Officers provides functional leadership across the Resource Development team, setting standards of best practice, contributing to major campaigns and cross-functional initiative and strengthening alignment and collaborations. While the role has no direct reports, it exercises leadership through mentoring, capability development, and fostering a high-performing, collaborative team culture.


 


Required Education, Training, and Experience



  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., communications, business, public policy, philanthropy), or an equivalent combination of education and progressive fundraising experience.

  • CFRE designation or progress toward CFRE is strongly preferred.

  • Ongoing engagement in professional development and current best practices in fundraising and philanthropy.

  • Possession of a valid Manitoba Driver’s License, or the ability to meet the travel requirements of the role.

  • Minimum 8–10 years of progressive fundraising experience, with a demonstrated focus on major gifts, leadership-level giving, and complex donor relationships within a not-for-profit or mission-driven organization.

  • Proven success securing significant philanthropic support, including multi-year commitments and gifts supporting operating, capital, and/or endowment priorities.

  • Demonstrated ability to independently manage and advance donor portfolios, exercising sound judgment, discretion, and professionalism.

  • Experience translating organizational fundraising strategy into effective donor engagement and revenue outcomes in collaboration with senior leadership.

  • Strong experience working with senior leaders, high-capacity donors, philanthropic leaders, and volunteer or campaign leadership.

  • Demonstrated ability to contribute to grant initiatives, including proposal development, reporting, and stewardship, as assigned.

  • Excellent relationship management, communication, and negotiation skills, with the ability to build trust and credibility with diverse stakeholders.

  • Creative and strategic thinker and planner with attention to detail.

  • Capital Campaign experience is considered an asset.

  • Experience working with Raiser’s Edge/NXT is considered an asset.
