A growing power generation service company is seeking an experienced Senior Generator Technician to support industrial and commercial customers across Southern Ontario.
This is a field-based role for a highly skilled technician with strong experience in:
Industrial diesel generators
Large engine repair and overhauls
Generator controls and electrical diagnostics
ATS and emergency power systems
Independent field troubleshooting
We are looking for a technician who can confidently diagnose and repair complex generator and engine issues in the field, lead service calls independently, and represent the company professionally with customers.
This is not a general maintenance position — candidates must have hands-on experience with diesel engines, power generation equipment, and electrical troubleshooting.
Key Responsibilities
Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair industrial diesel generators and power generation systems
Perform complete diesel engine overhauls independently, including teardown, inspection, rebuild, and reassembly
Troubleshoot and repair:
Generator control systems
Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS)
AC/DC electrical systems up to 600V
24V DC starting and charging systems
Governors, AVR systems, relays, and control circuits
Read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams
Perform preventative maintenance and emergency service repairs on generator systems
Conduct load bank testing and system commissioning when required
Lead field service jobs independently and make sound technical decisions under pressure
Support and mentor junior technicians when needed
Complete accurate service documentation and reports
Communicate professionally with customers and maintain strong client relationships
Participate in an on-call rotation after onboarding
Experience reading electrical schematics and troubleshooting control circuits
Ability to work independently in the field with minimal supervision
Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
Must own personal tools
Willingness to travel throughout Southern Ontario, including overnight stays when required
Schedule & Travel
Field-based role servicing customers across Southern Ontario
Technicians dispatch directly from home
Overnight travel required (typically 2–3 nights per month)
Limited weekend work
On-call rotation after training period
Compensation & Benefits
$45–$50+/hour based on experience
