Are you a seasoned policy professional looking to take your career to the next level? We are looking for a Senior Policy and Program Coordinator (Team Lead) to lead the development of policies and programs to support equity and inclusion within Ontario's education sector. In this role, you will lead transformational initiatives to develop and implement policies and programs that support underserved and marginalized populations, community and parent engagement, and equity of opportunity for students' success and well-being. The Division
The Indigenous Education and Well-Being Division focuses on fostering the learning conditions that promote student success. The programs and policies developed in the Division support the diverse needs of students with a commitment to equity of opportunity and outcome for all students. Key responsibilities include: Indigenous education, equity and inclusive education, student and staff well-being, safe and healthy schools, parent and student engagement, and children and youth living under the care of the Crown and of Children's Aid Societies in Ontario. With a unique focus on Indigenous learners, the Division aims to build the knowledge of all students and educators on the histories, cultures and contributions of First Nations, Métis and Inuit people.
The Branch
The Inclusive Education, Priorities and Engagement Branch supports the delivery of transformational initiatives that promote an inclusive learning experience in schools and success for all children and youth. This work puts students' well-being at the centre of school and board planning, learning, policies, and programs, and focuses on enhancing meaningful relationships with parents/guardians, educational partners, and communities.

Effective April 1, 2024 the salary range for this position is $88,496.00 to $128,625.00 per year in compliance with AMAPCEO collective agreement provisions. The new rates, effective retroactive to April 1, 2024, were recently confirmed and dates for implementation of the new salary rates are still to be determined.

What can I expect to do in this role?
In this role, you will:
• Lead policy development and directives to school boards on a range of initiatives of key government priorities delivered by the Ministry of Education
• Provide team leadership and strategic policy advisor services to management
• Lead analysis of policy options and coordinate policy development
• Lead committees and projects addressing a variety of major policy issues
• Provide project and technical leadership
• Develop and foster relationships and networks with education stakeholders
• Conduct policy needs analysis, recommend project resources, lead policy teams, and track project progress up to and including overseeing new legislation through legislative process where appropriate
How do I qualify?
Policy Knowledge and Skills
• You have knowledge of program/policy analysis and development theories, practices and techniques
• You can lead program delivery and influence the development and implementation of policy proposals and legislation
• You understand government priorities, policy development/approval processes and procedures
Education Sector Knowledge
• You have knowledge of Ontario's educational systems, trends, initiatives, ministry programs and priorities and specific sections of the Education Act
• You are familiar with the mandate and functioning of school boards including protocols and procedures
Relationship Management and Leadership Skills
• You demonstrate advisory, consultation and leadership skills to provide elementary and secondary education policy expertise
• You have facilitation and leadership skills to gain support for ministry policy and program initiatives
• You have consultation, consensus-building and negotiation skills to develop key stakeholder linkages and promote understanding and gain support for program/ministry objectives and initiatives
• You can develop and maintain strong working relationships and partnerships
Project Management and Planning Skills
• You have project management skills and the ability to produce high quality results on time through team-based approaches
• You can plan and conduct quantitative and qualitative research studies, and lead project teams
• You have strategic planning skills to anticipate and absorb complex, large-scale issues
Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills
• You demonstrate well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills to synthesize information from a range of sources, interpret and assess research findings, identify issues and develop/recommend solutions to resolve issues
• You can analyze current processes and identify opportunities for continuous improvement
• You can identify emerging issues and their political implications to contain/resolve issues
Communication and Presentation Skills
• You have written communication skills to prepare reports, proposals and submissions using standard computer software
• You have presentation skills to explain program policy positions and promote initiatives
