Job Description - Senior PR Specialist or PR Manager

The PR Specialist or Manager is responsible for assessing opportunities to unlock the power of PR beyond traditional channels to develop and amplify content that drives results. They will energize ideas to drive the brand narrative and rethink how to uniquely lead in an integrated agency model, bringing extra life to ideas. The ideal candidate should have a few years of senior specialist or 1-2 years of manager experience, confidently developing PR programs for national consumer brands from briefing to reporting, and effective and confident client relations skills.


The Opportunity 



Public Relations Counsel 



  • Assess and pressure test creative ideas and opportunities and their earned media and influencer potential. Share your creative instincts with rationale. 

  • Key point of contact for client, media, influencers and agency for current and proposed assignments

  • Manage various projects from planning through execution, and possess rock-solid project and time management skills. 

  • Directs the completion of all written materials for programs including messaging, press release, pitch notes and briefing materials

  • Builds amplification plans recommending appropriate approaches across paid, earned, owned and shared channels. Manages finances with confidence, including campaign hard costs budgets across multiple accounts.

  • Demonstrates a strong understanding of media relations and the current Canadian media landscape to set appropriate KPIs and secure relevant earned media coverage across various clients and programs.

  • Think critically to provide an educated risk assessment.

  • Maintains strong client relations in order to cultivate new business opportunities.

  • Be curious and proactively stay informed of what’s happening in culture and in the industry to stay on the forefront of PR, social/digital and influencer programming.



What you’ll bring:



  • 3-4 years of relevant industry experience working within public relations either agency or client side. 

  • Experience working in both corporate communications and consumer marketing with a focus on earned media.

  • Strong presentation and communication skills.

  • Solid creative instinct.

  • Relationships –  you’ve got solid relationships in the media, and you’re good at building new ones.

Compensation: $65K - $75K /year
