Senior Production Accountant

Primary Purpose of Position:

Reporting to the Manager, Production Accounting the Senior Production Accountant will be responsible for ensuring the integrity and accuracy for internal and external reporting and have extensive knowledge of current industry and government practices. The Senior Production Accountant will possess all the technical skills required to gather and process data.

Roles and Responsibilities:

This position is responsible for full cycle production, revenue, and royalty accounting functions with assigned operated and non-operated properties, including but not limited to:

• Complete validation and analysis of volumetric data.


• Communicate volumetric data and product splits to all necessary parties.


• Liaise with field staff, Measurement, and Engineering departments regarding issues that may affect production.


• Maintain a strong understanding of the property schematics to align with proper set up of properties on the PA System.


• Investigate and remediate regulatory compliance issues while working with the Measurement department on EPAP, FFV and PAD government reports.


• Record monthly revenues, royalty obligations and code third party fees for the Joint Venture department.


• Review purchaser statements and reconcile accounts receivables.


• Respond to queries from other departments, external auditors, and senior management.


• Provide mentorship as required to other members of the Production Accounting team.


• Lead projects that will improve workflows and data quality.

Position Knowledge, Skills, and Experience: 

• Extensive experience with gas allocations and oil splits.


• Strong technical Excel skills to work with complex property worksheets and develop further.


• Ability to work within a team environment and mentor staff.


• Effective communication skills with all stakeholders.


• Detail-orientated with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.


• Deadline-orientated with an ability to prioritize assignments and work in a fast-paced environment.


• Displays a high-level of integrity in all actions, complying with and promoting Sinopec’s core values, a respectful work environment, and aligning with the code of business conduct.

Qualifications:

• Post-secondary education in business with an emphasis on accounting is considered an asset.


• A minimum of 10 years of accounting experience. Preference will be given to candidates with oil and gas experience.


• Experience in the following areas is considered an asset: operated terminal, oil equalizations and proficiency with PAS, Petrinex, PVR, Prodview, Envirosoft, Qbyte FM, CS Explorer.

Professional Designation(s) and/or Memberships:

• Working towards or completed CPA accounting designation considered an asset.


• CAPP certification is also considered an asset.
