A day in the life:



  • Planning, scheduling, and estimating design engineering effort on projects from the conception of project design to issue of all drawings and specifications for construction.

  • Assist in the development of proposals.

  • Prepare and/or review cost estimates, schedules, risk assessment and elements of project design.

  • Develop project strategy to ensure key issues are identified early and to ensure project goals of quality, schedule and cost are achieved.

  • Interpret project specifications and scope to all engineering disciplines.

  • Review and approve all designs to ensure conformity with project specifications, project scope, company practices and sound engineering practices.

  • Provide coordination to discipline and support development of their deliverables.

  • Preparing and updating engineering control documents

  • Monitor design changes, contract extras, and support development of change orders.

  • Main technical contact with the client

  • Mentor other engineers within the project engineering team.

  • Required to provide professional designation on projects you are engaged in

  • Develop technical drawings and deliverables such as P&IDs and Line List


 What you'll bring to WSP ...    



  • University graduate in engineering or applied science with a minimum of 8 years working experience primarily in an EPC environment.

  • Professional Engineer registration in one or more provinces in Canada with ability to add registration in Alberta and/or other provinces as required.

  • Handles diverse information requests dealing with common issues.

  • Presents reports and recommendations to clients.

  • Needs to be able to maintain and update the schedule to record project performance, document project changes and track trends to inform stakeholders of project status.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong time management and organizational skills.

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to interact positively with all levels of staff.

  • Demonstrate sensitivity and discretion when working with confidential information.


 KEY COMPETENCIES



  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, act as main contact with the client.  Coordinate meetings, creates project status reports and communicates the project status to different groups, including clients.

  • Proven ability to produce high quality work while facing competing priorities and strict deadlines.

  • Ability to prioritize activities, adapt to change, and stay focused in a dynamic environment.

  • Knows, understands, and complies with all client and corporate procedures.

  • Proficient in MS Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Outlook, Teams.
