About the Role:


We are seeking a Senior Property Accountant to provide handson accounting support for a portfolio of commercial and/or residential properties, working closely with the Property Management teams. This role is responsible for fullcycle property accounting, including financial statement preparation, reconciliations, budgeting support, and capital project accounting. 





The Senior Property Accountant plays a key role in ensuring accuratetimely financial reporting, supporting monthend and yearend close processes, and acting as a primary point of contact for Property Managers. This position is well suited to a detailoriented accounting professional with strong analytical skills and experience in real estate or property management environments. 



Key Responsibilities:



  • Take ownership of full-cycle accounting for a portfolio of commercial and/or residential properties. 

  • Prepare and review monthly financial reports, variance analyses, and reconciliations. 

  • Collaborate with Property Managers to manage and resolve issues related to accounts receivable, tenant ledgers, and rent rolls. 

  • Reconcile loans, mortgages, and reserve accounts to third-party statements. 

  • Review and post journal entries related to accruals, amortization, straight-line rent, rental deposits, and capital asset schedules. 

  • Assist in the preparation of annual budgets, forecasts, and year-end working papers. 

  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial statements and compliance with internal controls. 

  • Identify and implement process improvements across ERP system usage (Yardi). 

  • Design and streamline reports to enhance month-end close efficiency. 

  • Act as a mentor and subject matter expert to junior and intermediate accountants. 

  • Support external audit processes by preparing working papers and responding to inquiries 



About You:



  • A minimum of 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience in property management.

  • Post-secondary education or suitable professional training and experience in accounting, finance, or related field.

  • Strong Excel skills; Yardi Voyager experience required; familiarity with SQL, VBA is an asset.

  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple deadlines 

  • CPA designation (or progress toward one) preferred.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey information to diverse audiences

This position is to fill an existing vacancy. The salary range for this role is 70-90k
