The Opportunity

As Senior Quality Assurance Analyst, you will act as a champion for quality best practices while directly supporting our Game Development Teams. Through proactively identifying, investigating and implementing Game Testing supports you will ensure our high quality standards are upheld. Bringing prior experiences within Game Dev. QA, you will directly support our multidisciplinary teams in realizing their goals through efficiently identifying and replicating bugs, verifying fixes and innovating upon the existing testing methodologies that empower Gamemode One’s growing roster of talented developers; all while encouraging a ‘player centric’ development approach to the experiences we are building!

You’ll act as a key pillar in guiding our quality standards through providing detailed feedback, proactively identifying performance concerns, and driving continuous improvements throughout our development cycles. Demonstrating a passion for video games and familiarity of the broader Game Development pipelines and teams will equip you to take on this next adventure.

This role is listed as ‘Senior’. We know that this can mean something different across employers. For us, this means we are looking for someone who already has established observable experience in championing quality considerations within multidisciplinary game development Teams. You will have both directly interfaced with existing testing methodologies and actioned/implemented proactive improvements for the teams you’ve supported.

You have hands on experience in championing Quality while demonstrating a strong familiarity of Game Production considerations. As such, you have routinely demonstrated effective communication skills through your engagement with internal and external partners.

Within 1 month, you’ll…

• Build relationships with both Quality and adjacent development teams through QA syncs and scrum ceremonies to begin collaborations across the project team’s you’ll be supporting.


• Demonstrate a working familiarity with our quality culture, to understand how you can drive value through your role.


• Exhibit an understanding of the environment Gamemode One has cultivated, including our structure, Minecraft as an engine, and the company's present projects and future goals


• Directly Implement various types of testing, including both functional and non-functional, and create high-quality bug reports in backlogs, to drive improvements to product quality


• Begin Demonstrating an understanding of the performance constraints across various platforms and the factors that affect performance in Minecraft, to ensure players across a range of devices have a great experience.

Within 3 months, you’ll…

• Own the creation of test plans & cases for a new product in development, so that we land a stable game for players at launch.


• Uphold our quality culture through your first product launch, completing paired testing with developers, and championing quality.


• Assist the QA manager in coordinating testing priorities with project needs to ensure we make the best use of our resources.


• Autonomously triage defects, understanding the various factors at play, such as the impact on players and their severity


• Bring your industry knowledge to conversations around quality and identify opportunities to improve our processes.


• Explore and use performance tooling to complete performance testing on an active product. Working with developers to keep performance top of mind.

Within 6 months, you’ll…

• Lead advancements in our quality processes and practices within the quality function and development teams


• Create metrics to track & understand product quality, and how defects are created and resolved, so we can better evaluate quality and testing resource usage.


• Own increasing our test coverage across more platforms & devices, to improve player experiences across the broad set of platforms our players are on.


• Assist in the exploration and creation of automated tests to increase our test coverage and free up capacity.


• Mentor junior quality members in test execution and bug quality, helping your colleagues to develop and improve our outcomes.


• Take ownership of ingesting & triaging bugs from our external quality partners

Within 12 months, you’ll…

• Confidently Identify potential product risks and plan how to test for or mitigate these risks, to give developers freedom to continue advancing on the cutting edge.


• Advocate for product quality in milestone meetings & reviews, clearly communicating to stakeholders the products’ build & release readiness.


• Assist in the understanding of the needs of the Quality department, including tooling and capacity, to help shape the future strategy of the department
