Job Description - Senior Regional Director Clinical Support

Schlegel Villages is recruiting for a Senior Regional Director of Clinical Support, in a Permanent Full-Time role to join our team. The successful candidate must be comfortable commuting and will be primarily supporting the East - mainly the GTA region - with occasional travel and support required outside the region.  


The expected hiring range for this position is $110,000 to $130,000.

As the new Senior Regional Director of Clinical Support, a senior clinical leader within the Support Office, is accountable for advancing high-quality nursing care and clinical services across Long-Term Care (LTC) and Retirement Homes (RH) within the Greater Toronto Area. This role provides strategic and operational clinical leadership to Village Clinical Leadership Teams, ensuring regulatory compliance, clinical excellence, risk mitigation, and continuous quality improvement across Clinical Operations.


The Senior Regional Director models a servant leadership approach, fostering trust, compassion, stability, and hope while supporting the growth and development of clinical leaders and teams. Through strong internal and external relationships, this role influences clinical practice, supports change, and ensures alignment with organizational strategy, standards, and values.


Key Responsibilities:  Clinical Leadership & Support
• Provide expert clinical leadership and consultation to Village Clinical Leadership Teams across LTC and RH.
• Directly support assigned Villages while contributing to broader regional and provincial clinical initiatives.
• Partner with Operations leadership, including SVP/VP Operations and AVP Clinical Support, to address clinical risks, performance issues, and strategic priorities.
• Identify emerging clinical trends, risks, and opportunities, and proactively implement mitigation and improvement strategies.


People Leadership
• Lead, coach, and mentor the Regional Directors of Clinical Support, ensuring clarity of expectations, accountability, and professional growth.
• Support succession planning and leadership development within Clinical Support and Village teams.
• Promote a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning.


Training & Education
• Support professional practice and clinical competency development of Village Leadership Teams and clinical staff.
• Lead and support education, onboarding, coaching, and mentorship initiatives in alignment with Schlegel Villages programs, policies, and procedures.
• Support the implementation, evaluation, and continuous improvement of clinical programs and initiatives.
• Contribute innovative approaches to change management to support effective adoption of new practices and minimize resistance to change.


Compliance & Risk Management
• Ensure follow-up and resolution of high-risk clinical and regulatory issues.
• Support Villages in meeting all legislative, regulatory, and accreditation requirements.
• Promote and reinforce compliance with Schlegel Villages standards, policies, and clinical expectations.
• Embed a proactive approach to clinical risk identification and mitigation.


Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI)
• Provide oversight and leadership for Continuous Quality Improvement and accreditation activities across supported Villages.
• Ensure CQI frameworks, quality indicators, and performance metrics are effectively used to drive clinical excellence.
• Monitor, analyze, and support improvement related to quality indicators, adverse events, and resident outcomes.
• Lead and support clinical program reviews, audits, and outcome-based quality assessments in partnership with the AVP Clinical Support.
• Leverage data, including RAI-MDS, to inform decision-making and translate policy into effective clinical practice.


Required Education, Credentials & Experience
• Registered Nurse (RN) or Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) with current registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO).
• Experience in a Regional Support Role in Long Term Care or Retirement
• Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in Long-Term Care and/or Retirement Homes, with leadership experience strongly preferred.


Candidate must have reliable transportation to support in our Villages.
