Job Description - Senior Strategist

At Rethink, the strategy department are facilitators of the culturally relevant, exciting work – to do that, we need to be category experts, advertising experts while working collaboratively with all teams. Strategy is about making choices and presenting these choices in a clear, concise way to support and sell creative. As a senior strategist, you’ll frequently collaborate with your Director to ensure alignment and excellence in strategic communications to craft strategy for the brands you work on. You’ll work closely with creative and accounts to identify and frame the right problem to inspire the best solutions.



The Opportunity



  •  As a senior strategist, you will independently craft longer term positionings and campaign strategies for the brands you work on.

  • You will use data about brands, their consumers, competitors and culture to inform your approach.

  • You’ll work hand in hand with the creative team - before, during and after creative briefs - to fuel and elevate ideas that will resonate with people.

  • You will foster strong relationships with clients and help guide them through strategic decisions.

  • You’ll provide recommendations on research approaches that both inform creative development and measure effectiveness.

  •  You’ll be a part of a growing strategy team and have the ability to mentor new and aspiring strategists.



What you’ll  bringing:



  • Resourceful problem solving skills

  • Critical thinking skills

  • Effective communication approaches

  • 4-6+ years’ experience in brand strategy

  • A passion for continuing to grow your craft, advertising and creation 

  • A passion for great work and a genuine desire to impact it 

  • Strong presentation and communication skills

  • Ability to work independently as well as on a team

  • A "can-do" attitude – no ask is too big or too small for you

  • An entrepreneurial spirit – you take ownership of your work and bring fresh thinking to the table

  • A proactive approach – you can see the destination, and you know how to build the path there 

  • A knack for applied strategy - you have the ability to translate strategic intention into actionable work

  1. Phone screen with Talent Acquisition

  2. First round interview with Hiring Manager

  3. Interviews with General Manager

  4. Final round interview with Head of Department 

  5. References

Office Location:  15 West 5th Avenue, Vancouver
Compensation: $90K / year
