Job Description - Service Technician

We are currently looking for a Service Technician to join our team.


The Alamo Group employs approximately 4,500 people worldwide. In this role, you will be part of the Snow & Ice Canada team, specializing in high-performance snow removal solutions for heavy equipment across North America.


Our Snow & Ice division consists of approximately 350 employees across sites in St-Valérien-de-Milton, Ayer's Cliff, Laval, Caledon, and Calgary, representing the industry-leading Tenco and Everest Equipment brands. Well-established and respected, our group is recognized for innovation, durability, and engineering excellence.


Your Mandate


As a Service Technician, you play a critical role in delivering timely, professional, and high-quality maintenance and repair services. Working both in the field and at our service branch, you will ensure that snow removal equipment is diagnosed, repaired, and maintained to the highest safety and performance standards.


Your expertise represents our technical excellence and contributes directly to the reliability and customer satisfaction associated with our brands.

Working Conditions




  • Status: Permanent, full-time (40 hours/week)




  • Schedule: Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM




  • Location: Caledon, Ontario




Your Responsibilities


1. Technical Service & Repairs




  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and electronic control systems on mobile heavy equipment.




  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance at customer locations and within our service shop.




  • Conduct post-repair inspections, calibrations, and full functional testing before equipment release.




  • Document all repairs, findings, and corrective actions using internal digital systems.




  • Ensure all activities comply with strict health, safety, and environmental policies.




2. Customer Interaction & Field Support




  • Provide professional, clear explanations of technical findings and service recommendations to clients.




  • Respond to urgent service calls and equipment breakdowns during peak operational periods (including seasonal overtime).




  • Provide on-site support at municipal yards, job sites, and customer depots.




  • Maintain a clean, organized, and fully equipped mobile service vehicle.




3. Documentation & Warranty




  • Accurately record labor hours, parts usage, and diagnosis details in the work order system.




  • Assist in warranty assessments by providing root-cause documentation and photographic evidence.




  • Track and communicate recurring field failure trends to the Engineering and Product Support teams.




4. Collaboration & Training




  • Coordinate daily with the Service Coordinator and Parts team to ensure timely job completion.




  • Participate in OEM training and internal updates to stay current with new models and technologies.




  • Support the onboarding and technical development of junior technicians.






Candidate Profile


Education & Experience:




  • 310T Certification: Highly preferred (Strong Asset).




  • Welding Certification: Strong asset.




  • Technical Literacy: Ability to read and interpret complex mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic schematics.




  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in the repair and maintenance of medium/heavy-duty trucks or heavy equipment.




  • Systems Knowledge: Hands-on expertise with hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.




Skills & Requirements:




  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to "right-first-time" quality.




  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with the wider technical team.




  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.




  • A positive attitude, strong work ethic, and a desire for continuous learning.




  • Flexibility to travel for field service or support production as business needs require (occasional after-hours or weekend work may be required during peak season).
