Association for New Canadians is a non-profit, community-based organization dedicated to the provision of settlement and integration services for immigrants and refugees.
Position Type: 3 full-time positions until March 31, 2026 with possibility of extension pending budget availability and satisfactory performance

Reporting to the Manager of Temporary Resident Settlement Services, the Settlement Officer - Temporary Resident Services is responsible for delivering client-centered services to support temporary residents settling in Newfoundland and Labrador.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Complete Intake Assessments and collaboratively assist the clients in developing a customized settlement plan
Support case management by assisting clients with information, referrals and settlement counseling services
Provide individual, family, and community support to clients considering individual needs and goals
Provide case management services including information and referral, accompaniment, home visits, and follow-up to assist clients to live independently and integrate successfully
Provide information and referral to a wide array of community agencies, professional services, settlement, and social services, etc.
Provide logistical support by meeting clients at the airport, assist with their move to permanent accommodations; and assist in completing applications for essential services
Deliver life skills and orientation sessions to help facilitate settlement into the local community
Collaborate with other employees, volunteers, and stakeholders to help identify and resolve any settlement-integration issues
Record and accurately compile client statistics and accomplishments to include in monthly activity reports
Qualifications and Experience:
Relevant Human Services degree (equivalencies will be considered)
Skilled in crisis intervention, conflict resolution and de-escalation skills
Ability to effectively engage with a variety of stakeholders, both internal and external
Strong interpersonal, presentation, and communication (both written and oral) skills
Previous case management experience supporting a vulnerable population
Knowledge of specific issues facing refugees and immigrants
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
Experience developing goals, timelines, and delivery methods to achieve set objectives
Accurately record and compile client statistics and accomplishments to include in monthly activity reports
Ability to speak a second language is an asset
Conditions of Employment:
Legal authorization to work in Canada
Flexible to work outside of core hours (Monday-Friday, 9:00am - 5:00pm)
Valid class 5 NL driver’s license and daily access to a reliable vehicle is an asset
Position is subject to a satisfactory Criminal Record Screening and Vulnerable Sector Check from the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary
