Responsibilities

This is a Highly Sensitive Position and a satisfactory Criminal Record Check, along with a clear Vulnerable Sector Check is required.

This employment opportunity is restricted to Nunavut Inuit who reside in Rankin Inlet only.

Reporting to the Regional Manager Material Management, the Shipper Receiver provides shipping and receiving services for all Health divisions in the region and is responsible for regional warehouse operations. This position is critical to the effective and efficient functioning of all divisions within Health. As the Shipper Receiver order through the Purchasing Officer and receives necessary supplies for the regional warehouse. You will also be responsible to receive orders from health centers and other divisions within Health, accurately issuing them out from warehouse stock via the Meditech Materials Management software and shipping them to the ordering community in line with all Government of Nunavut shipping protocols. 

The successful candidate takes the lead in ensures effective operations of the regional warehouse by maintaining inventory control by storing items in an organized and efficient manager with expiry dates and Meditech numbers evident, communicates with Purchasing Officer for follow up with vendor if appropriate wait time is exceeded, receives product, following all GN protocols and enters volume into Materials Management Module in Meditech for accurate inventory count. You will oversee the receipt of orders from all divisions of the Department within the Region and distributes goods by receives orders through either email or internal requisitions from all health centers and other divisions within the region, ships products to division and notifies ordering Department, including providing a waybill number, including notification if some items are still on order. When receiving ordered products, logs time and date prints receiving order sheets and copies packing slip, counts products. 



Qualifications

The contextual knowledge for this position is knowledge of inventory control practices, knowledge of shipping practices, applicable legislation, policies, procedures including knowledge of ATIPP and privacy best practices.  be invited for an interview; you should have a completion of Grade 10, have a Class 5 driver’s license, two years of experience working in a warehouse or inventory setting. The skills and abilities for this position is effective oral and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, computer skills including Microsoft office, spreadsheets and database administration, ability to lift heavy items up to 50 pounds, basic math skills, ability to work effectively in cross cultural environment, the ability to plan and prioritize work efficiently, organizational and time management skills, must be willing to be able to participate in required training and the ability to work with minimal supervision and direction.  

The Official Languages of Nunavut are Inuktut, English and French. Applicants may submit their resume in any of the official languages of Nunavut. Fluency in more than one of Nunavut’s official languages would be considered an asset. Knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land,Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, Inuktut and experience working in a northern cross-cultural environment are also considered assets.

As this is a two-year term position, current indeterminate Government of Nunavut employees may be offered a competitive transfer assignment for the duration of the term if they are deemed to be the successful candidate, however this is subject to managerial approval.
