We are looking for a Shipper/Receiver (Contract) who has diverse multi-tasking skills, effective communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to flex to the demands of the role. Being exceptionally organized and having an eye for detail is essential for success as a Shipper/Receiver.
This contract position is accountable for managing the flow of items, such as shipping, receiving and inventory control. They will work with minimal supervision and in a hands-on capacity to support the Stores team.
The successful Shipper/Receiver (Contract) should have at least 2 years’ experience, ideally in an industrial setting, as well as warehousing expertise, excellent time-management skills, and knowledge in organizational techniques. This position is located in-person at our Whitecourt mill and works Monday to Friday. The term of the contract is one year and it will be reviewed for possible extension.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage inbound/outbound freight.
Load and unload freight from trucks using a forklift, manual lifting, etc.
Put away or stage freight in a well-organized manner.
Obtain shipping quotes and negotiate rates.
Receive inventory into our tracking system.
Manage and enter service purchase orders, monthly billings and invoices in coordination with the Accounting department.
Complete daily inspections on Stores mobile equipment, ensuring it is maintained in good working order.
Remove stock items from racking (picking parts).
Undertake housekeeping, such as tidying floors, shelves, emptying garbage/recycling bins, as required.
Receive WHMIS-controlled products in the proper manner, ensuring proper SDS is obtained and held.
Organize and label stock items.
Act as a contact for Customs paperwork in relation to inbound/outbound shipments.
Oversee the Stores laydown area.
Participate in inventory counts alongside the Stores team.
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or (GED) equivalent is required
Have at least 2 years hands-on, well-developed shipping/receiving experience within a distribution company
Purchasing experience is not required, but an asset
Strong problem-solving skills and detail orientation, with a high level of accuracy
Must be able to complete work with a limited degree of supervision
Must be able to lift 50 lbs. on an unassisted basis, repetitively
Previous experience/certification of power equipment operation preferred, for example Forklift and Overhead Crane. Candidate will have to recertify on all ANC company equipment if chosen as the successful applicant.
Must be able to work in a dynamic, fast-paced distribution center environment.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word is required
Familiarity with computerized inventory location system is preferred
