The Simulationist is an Academic Teaching Staff member who supports the Faculty of Nursing's undergraduate, graduate, research, advancement, and global programs through the design, development, implementation, facilitation, and evaluation of simulation-based teaching and learning.
Working collaboratively with faculty and other subject matter experts, the Simulationist integrates simulation into the curriculum to create authentic experiential learning opportunities that foster clinical reasoning, critical thinking, teamwork, communication, and the application of theory to practice. The incumbent utilizes a range of simulation modalities and technologies—including, but not limited to, high-fidelity simulation, standardized clients, virtual simulation, immersive virtual reality (iVR), extended reality (XR), augmented reality (AR), mixed reality (MR), and other emerging simulation technologies—to support achievement of course and program learning outcomes.
The Simulationist provides expertise in simulation pedagogy, collaborates in the development and continuous improvement of simulation-based education, and supports faculty and learners through the effective integration of simulation into teaching and learning.
This position provides classroom, laboratory, clinical, and simulation-based teaching in support of undergraduate and graduate nursing education. The role combines high-quality teaching with the design, delivery, evaluation, and continuous improvement of simulation-based learning experiences while collaborating with faculty to advance curriculum, student success, and educational excellence.
