Job Description - Site Superintendent

PROFILE SUMMARY

Wesgroup is poised for substantial growth over the next several years and in preparation for this exciting and challenging phase, we are actively seeking a highly engaged, driven and experienced Site Superintendent to join our team.

The Site Superintendent is responsible for overseeing trades and effectively managing the daily on-site construction activities of multi-family high rise projects. The individual will plan, coordinate and safely execute the work in accordance with the construction documents, schedule and budget. This successful candidate must possess the knowledge, experience and confidence to engage and professionally interact with the design professionals and consultants while successfully directing the sub-contractors and other construction related personnel. This position is the leader of the site-based construction team.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES :

  • Manage the daily on-site construction activities and monitor work performance to ensure the compliance of construction drawings and specifications, project rules and procedures, and safety requirements.
  • Plan, implement, monitor and maintain project construction schedules. Determine workforce levels, material quantities, inspections, equipment and ensure requirements are maintained.
  • Adhere to Quality Assurance and Quality Control programs. Maintain and enforce good construction standards and quality control including deficiency lists.
  • Maintain a safe job site and ensure that the requirements of Occupational Health and Safety and WorkSafeBC are enforced. Maintain control and responsibility for the security of the job site.
  • Advise Project Manager of potential problems, work interferences and schedule difficulties and assist in resolving these problems.
  • Meet with Owners, Consultants and Architects in a professional manner and have the ability to communicate effectively both the concerns and best interests of the company.
  • Work with trades and suppliers reviewing, planning, coordinating and supervising their tasks and deliverables for the construction project.
  • Complete and maintain all daily logs, journals, and compliance reports related to the construction project. Hold daily trade huddles, weekly minute trade meetings, and issue 6WKLA’s.
  • Prepare look ahead schedules on a weekly basis for distribution subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Adhere to company’s purchasing (PO) procedures while ordering or receiving any needed material and equipment within delegated authority.
  • Identify items to be submitted as Request for Information to the Architect/Engineer or Owner prior to problem development at the site.
  • Update “as-built" conditions or changes in contract documents and coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers for implementation.
  • Ensure all certificates and final inspections have been obtained prior to project close out.
  • Lead, coach and develop a team of construction staff. Foster a collaborative and high-performance work environment
  • Chair Daily trade huddles and Weekly minute trade meetings
  • Create, manage, and Update Site Plans
  • Work in conjunction with Project manager to create a Organization chart for your project
  • Complete a daily site report and review of daily safety report
  • Review and Issue building Control O/S lines for all trades to use
  • Review and Issue Excavation drawings to all trades

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE :

  • Minimum 3 years’ as a Site Superintendent with experience in multi-family high rise buildings required
  • Post-Secondary Degree or Diploma in Engineering, Architecture, Building Technology or Construction Management
  • Ability to lead and coach a high performing team.
  • Strong organizational and strong communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of MS Outlook, MS Word, MS Project, MS Excel
  • Basic Understanding of autodesk build and Blubeam is an asset
  • Ability to adapt to changing conditions and proactively develop appropriate means and methods to meet and overcome challenges.

EXPECTED COMPENSATION

  • The expected salary range for this role is $145,000 - $175,000 per annum. Actual offered salary will depend on individual experience, qualifications, geographic location, market conditions for the role, and internal equity.
