Skilled Labourer

Job description:

GenMec ACL Inc. is seeking a Skilled Labourer to join our team in Cold Lake, Alberta. The Skilled Labourer is an intermediate-level construction worker who supports site operations with independence. This role requires solid knowledge of construction practices, the ability to perform tasks with minimal supervision, and a strong commitment to safety and quality.

Job Type: Contract, with opportunity to move to continued employment

Expected hours: 10 hrs / day

Project duration: 2-3 months long

Role Responsibilities

• Perform general labour duties with minimal supervision


• Assist skilled tradespeople and equipment operators with a higher level of competency


• Operate a variety of hand and power tools safely and effectively


• Load, unload, and move construction materials and equipment


• Assist with site preparation, grading, measuring, and basic layout tasks


• Erect and dismantle scaffolding, barricades, and temporary structures


• Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas at all times


• Follow and enforce company and site-specific safety procedures


• Identify and report hazards, unsafe conditions, or incidents promptly


• Support material staging and organization to improve workflow efficiency


• Assist in training and supporting Labourer I employees as required


• Participate in toolbox talks and safety meetings


• Perform other duties as assigned to support project success

Role Requirements

• 2–4 years of experience in commercial or civil construction


• Drivers license


• Solid understanding of construction tools, materials, and methods


• Ability to work independently with limited supervision


• Strong work ethic and reliability


• Physically fit and able to perform demanding tasks, including lifting 50+ lbs


• Ability to work overtime and weekends as required


• Good understanding of workplace safety practices
