Snowmaking Manager 
We are Cape Smokey Holding Ltd., a high-end real estate development company that is in the process of developing a major year-round resort at Cape Smokey, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. We operate Cape Smokey, Nova Scotia’s only gondola-accessible ski hill and a fast-growing four-season mountain destination. To ensure exceptional snow conditions and efficient operations throughout the winter season, we require the position of Snowmaking  Manager to be filled.

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Snowmaking Manager will lead the snowmaking team and oversee all aspects of snow production. You will be responsible for executing timely, weather-responsive snowmaking plans, ensuring the safe operation and maintenance of equipment, and optimizing snow quality across the mountain.

We are located at 38696 Cabot Trail Road, Ingonish Beach, Nova Scotia, B0C 1L0, Canada.
This is a full-time year-round position, with staff accommodation available on-site.

As the Snowmaking Manager, you will be responsible for the planning, coordination, supervision, and execution of all snowmaking activities. You will lead a team of snowmakers, ensure equipment is maintained and inventory kept up to date, ensure the production of high-quality snow, and work closely with other mountain operations teams to create exceptional guest experiences.

Your duties will include:

• Organize and maintain inventory


• Utilize computers in snow making operations


• Operate fan snow gun∙ Analyze data


• Determine snow quality


• Perform snow maintenance operations including handling snowmaking and snow removal equipment


• Monitor snow making operation


• Assess performance of subordinates and authorize promotions, transfers and disciplinary actions


• Shut down snow making plant


• Assign personnel to equipment and routes and schedule work shifts


• Off season planning including: 
  
  
  
  • Planning new runs
  
  
  • Drainage and landscaping
  
  
  • Overseeing tree removal
  
  
  
  

∙ High school diploma or equivalent (post-secondary or technical training is an asset)
∙ Minimum of 5 years of experience in snowmaking, including at least 2 years in a leadership role
∙ Strong mechanical aptitude and technical skills
∙ Proficiency in using computerized control systems for snowmaking
∙ Physically fit and capable of working long shifts outdoors in extreme winter conditions
∙ Experience operating snow guns, compressors, snowmobiles, and related machinery
∙ Strong communication, problem-solving, and team management skills
∙ Valid driver’s license required
∙ English fluency required; Czech language ability is an asset

This is a full-time, year-round on-site position 
Shifts may include evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.

The qualified applicant will be paid an annualized salary commensurate with experience.

Range approx $26 - $50 per hour.
