The Ontario Cannabis Store provides safe, responsible access to recreational cannabis for adults 19 and older. We operate the sole legal online store for recreational cannabis in Ontario and are the provincial wholesaler of cannabis for private retail stores.

About the Role

We're seeking an exceptional Social Media Manager to join our dynamic Communications team. The Social Media Manager will support the development, manage, and implement the social media strategy, including the content calendar. The Social Media Manager will execute on various social media projects across multiple platforms and will have a thorough understanding of the ever-changing rules, regulations, and requirements for posting on each unique social platform.

The Social Media Manager will manage the consistency of messaging across all platforms, as well as engages with consumer feedback or inquiries in a timely manner and in the voice of the Ontario Cannabis Store (OCS). The Social Media Manager will liaise with key OCS stakeholders as it relates to issue escalation and governance to manage responses. The Social Media Manager will also provide regular comprehensive analytics and reporting on initiatives and provide recommendations on how to optimize social media engagement.

About Your Day

  • Develop and execute comprehensive social media strategies to enhance brand visibility, foster engagement, and drive growth across various platforms.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to ensure social media efforts complement and amplify broader projects and campaigns across a variety of platforms including but not limited to Instagram, Facebook, Reddit and LinkedIn.
  • Remain abreast of industry trends, emerging platforms, and innovative tools to identify and seize new opportunities proactively.
  • Manage, report, and adhere to social media budget to execute goals and achieve Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Assess the effectiveness of social media strategy and deliverables to make recommendations for both real-time and future improvements to best connect with community and achieve KPIs
  • Manage all social media accounts to increase brand awareness, drive engagement, increase followers, grow website traffic, and achieve other identified metrics. This also includes daily monitoring and timely responses to comments or questions on social platforms and direct messaging inboxes in collaboration with relevant subject matter experts and the director of communications and strategic engagement.
  • Build and own all social media vendor relationships to support the achievements of our objectives.
  • Work cross-functionally to support in curating, writing, design and production.
  • Create and maintain a very fluid social media calendar based on driving the brand, merchandise strategies, and marketing campaigns.
  • Own production and deployment of social media content, including brand consistency, alignment with OCS identity, formatting, image quality, accuracy of content, targeting (if needed), set-up, QA & testing initiatives.
  • Any technical issues with vendor, Creative, Analytics and IT teams.
  • Understand & monitor the changing rules, regulations & requirements for each platform and ensure content adheres to legal compliance of the industry.
  • Monitor and report on competitive social media activities & performance.
  • Develop, create & monitor benchmark data & KPI’s that measure effectiveness of social media initiatives and campaigns. Also provide weekly reports on social media activities

About You

  • Completion of post-secondary education a related area of study OR equivalent combination of experience and post-secondary education
  • Completion of post-secondary education in Marketing or Communication is preferred
  • Minimum 4 years of experience working in digital marketing or related field
  • Experience developing and executing social media campaigns in alignment with broader marketing strategies and messaging across various media platforms
  • Experience within cannabis or regulated industries is preferred
  • Strong interpersonal skills and superb oral and written communication
  • Solid understanding of the Canadian social media landscape, including influencers
  • Ability to translate complex, detailed information into concise, compelling communication
  • Excellent analytic and strategic thinking skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a rapidly changing environment
  • Excellent computer and software skills such as MS Office Suite.
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to juggle multiple priorities, manage last minute details, be versatile and flexible with competing demands
  • Ability to be diplomatic in the face of stressful situations
  • Fluency in the French language is an asset

About the Job

  • This position currently offers a hybrid work schedule. The current in office requirement is a minimum of 3 days/week (may be more depending on business needs). The OCS office is located near York Mills and Yonge Street. However, OCS reserves the right to change this policy and its office location at any time.

Compensation

The target hiring range for this position is $ 85,000- $105,000. This is a pay grade 6 role, with a salary range of $ 71,066.63 - $ 106,316.64. Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
