Job Description - Sr. Communications Specialist

Compensation: $90,000 – $105,000 / year (full-time / permanent)

Work location: The SCS position allows for hybrid work practices balancing time at home and in one of our local branches located either Vancouver, Calgary, Montreal, or Toronto.

The Sr. Communications Specialist (SCS) is a member of the On Side Internal Communications team. This highly specialized, high performing team supports our coast-to-coast branch network with communication challenges at every level. The SCS responsibilities include creating polished, well-crafted internal and external corporate communication materials, cross departmental communications, media relations and periodical writing and editing.

The Sr. Communications Specialist is responsible for:

  • Writing high-quality communications covering all company communication Every day will provide a new and exciting challenge.
  • Editing with an exceptional eye for detail and an ability to understand business and technical content and highlight ‘what’s in it’ for the intended audience
  • Developing communications plans that work with and fit within project rollout plans
  • Developing innovative ideas and communications tactics to drive adoption and increase engagement of corporate initiatives
  • Collaborating with in-house designers to create creative content as needed
  • Ensuring brand guidelines and grammar principles are followed and upheld
  • Developing relationships and engaging with key stakeholders

What you bring:

  • Mental agility and an insatiable love of tackling challenges
  • 6+ years’ experience in corporate communications
  • Record of excellent writing demonstrated in a portfolio of published articles, marketing materials or communications pieces
  • SharePoint master page development knowledge and site design capabilities
  • Digital newsletter vision and development capabilities
  • Excellent writing, editing skills and research
  • A learning mindset
  • Superb organization skills, able to work with conflicting schedules, deadlines, calendar, and marketing events
  • Social savviness, media and otherwise
  • Diploma in Communications or Bachelor’s in Marketing, English, Journalism, or related field
