This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Sr. Software Engineer, Platform based in Canada.
This role sits at the heart of a growing internal platform team responsible for building the services and APIs that power large-scale business operations. You will design and develop backend systems that connect internal workflows, third-party tools, and platform services into a unified, reliable ecosystem. The work focuses on turning operational complexity into reusable, scalable, and secure capabilities that support automation and AI-enabled workflows. You will help productionize agentic systems, ensuring they meet strict standards for observability, auditability, and human oversight where required. This is a highly collaborative environment where engineering, product, and business teams work closely to transform evolving operational needs into durable platform solutions. The role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving ambiguous problems and building infrastructure that enables teams across an organization to work more efficiently and intelligently.
Accountabilities:
- Design, build, and maintain backend services and APIs that power internal business applications and cross-system workflows.
- Develop and productionize AI-enabled and agentic workflows, ensuring reliability, observability, and appropriate human-in-the-loop controls.
- Create reusable integration patterns that enable safe, auditable actions across internal systems, third-party tools, and platform services.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to translate complex operational workflows into scalable and incremental technical solutions.
- Contribute to the evolution of an internal platform that supports automation, integrations, and AI-driven business processes.
- Ensure systems meet high standards for security, data integrity, reliability, and auditability across distributed environments.
- Collaborate closely with engineering and business stakeholders to deliver impactful, production-ready capabilities.
Requirements:
- Strong backend engineering experience building production-grade services, APIs, or platform infrastructure.
- Proven ability to design and deliver scalable systems with a focus on reliability, security, and data correctness.
- Experience working with complex integrations across internal systems, external platforms, or distributed services.
- Strong systems thinking with the ability to translate ambiguous business or operational needs into clear technical designs.
- Comfort working in fast-changing environments involving internal tools, third-party systems, and AI-enabled workflows.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with experience working across engineering and business stakeholders.
- Ability to assess when automation is appropriate and when human review or oversight is required.
