Store Associate - Produce (Aurora Store, Aurora)

T&T Supermarket Inc. was found in 1993 with two stores in BC.  Since then, it has expanded rapidly to become Canada’s largest Asian supermarket chain with 29 stores across the country: 13 in Metro Vancouver, 6 in Alberta, and 10 in Ontario (8 in GTA and 1 in Ottawa, 1 in Waterloo).

The Role

Reporting to the Produce Department Head (or his/her delegates), this position is responsible for preparing various produce products in advance for customers to choose from. The position also needs to stock produce onto the display cases in the sales area, follow FIFO concept, provide good customer service to our customers by fulfilling their requests, and maintain inventory and workplace cleanliness

Major Responsibilities:

1. Maintain inventory and product freshness following FIFO concept; ensure full display of various produce products


2. Preform regular quality check, follow procedures to process sub-standard products and manage shrinkage


3. Prepare various produce for sales activities, include but not limited to sort, cut, wash, weigh, pack and label various produce products and display them in the display cases


4. Greet customers with good customer service, smiles, being friendly and enthusiasm


5. Assist customers in produce product selection and provide recommendations as required


6. Maintain workplace cleanliness by washing and maintain relevant work tools clean and well-kept


7. Keep display cases and walk-in coolers clean and tidy

Knowledge, Skills and Ability Requirements:                                            

1. Flexible to work in shifts, including weekdays, weekends, evening hours and statutory holidays


2. Be prepared to stand long time and to hands on dealing with products and lifting of products of 50 pounds on a regular basis; able to use working related tools in a safe manner


3. Be prepared to work in low temperature (0-4 ℃) environment regularly


4. Not allergic in handling produce products


5. Able to communicate in English and Chinese (Cantonese &/or Mandarin) an asset


6. Knowledge of basic work safety


7. Relevant experience in handling produce products is preferred
