Job Description - Strategic Advisor / Consultant, New Venture: AI Revenue Management Platform

Summary

Diagram Ventures is launching a new tech venture developing a SaaS platform to help airlines augment their ability to forecast demand, dynamically price considering external market drivers and better manage inventory (E.g., overbooking) using a novel AI approach. We are looking for an advisor to help the venture’s leader in scoping the product roadmap and the go-to-market strategy. The engagement with the advisor would be part-time and could be converted into a full-time role and/or founder position within the new venture. The advisor would work closely with Diagram’s venture leaders to produce the deliverables and reach the milestones mentioned below. The advisor could be compensated in cash, equity in the new venture or a mix of both.

The opportunity

Airlines can significantly impact their profitability by optimizing revenue management, but traditional RM approaches and systems limit the full potential. AI is the key to unlock the next horizon of growth for airlines. For example, it can augment the ability to forecast using simulation to overcome limitations in historical data, automate and optimize real-time pricing considering external inputs, and more. Best-in-class airlines have invested heavily in proprietary technology and AI over the last decade, while other airlines are left trying to compete with limited in-house capabilities and capacity to invest to the same extent.

Diagram Ventures is launching a new venture with the aim of developing a next generation AI-based revenue management solution. We are now looking to get to the next stage of development with the help of an industry expert as an advisor. The role could evolve into a co-founder position of the newly created venture.

Expectations from the role

In collaboration with Diagram venture’s leadership, the advisor will:

  • Refine value proposition. Define competitive edge and identify opportunities to augment the value of the venture for airlines, potentially by helping with adjacent pain points
  • Produce a product roadmap for the MVP and beyond. Within the targeted market segment, define which features would bring the most value and are most differentiated from competitors
  • Define the go-to-market of the new venture. Amongst global airlines, determine the right customers to target first and second? Strategies to reduce long sales cycles with clients
  • Develop and execute a strategy for identifying potential design partners in the airlines space
  • Leverage your network and industry knowledge to initiate and nurture relationships with key stakeholders

Background and experience we look for

You’re the ideal candidate if you have:

  • Previously worked for airlines in revenue management or for a RMS system provider
  • Deep understanding of the technical processes and systems currently in use by airlines for revenue management
  • Experience or understanding of other functions within airlines and understanding of broader drivers/levers to drive revenue/profit
  • Network within the airline industry and a track record of successful partnership facilitation
