The College of Arts invites applications for a Strategic Advisor, Creative Arts to join their team for a term of one year.

The Strategic Advisor is an entrepreneurial, innovative, and visionary individual, who advises the Dean of Arts on strategic and sustainable growth opportunities for the Creative Arts at UFV. The Strategic Advisor is responsible for long-term strategic planning.

This role proposes and implements concrete solutions that will lead to the sustainable expansion of UFV Creative Arts’ initiatives including programming, facilities and technology, and revenue generation. This includes serving as a proactive and trusted advisor to executive leadership, while identifying and supporting the universities’ strategic plans and revenue growth opportunities.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Creative Arts, or PhD in a related discipline.
  • Seven years of administrative/leadership experience in the Creative Arts.
  • Progressive experience in strategic planning and leadership.
  • Experience in managing multiple complex issues and projects, supporting senior level management with an emphasis on issues resolution, strategies, and priorities.
  • Experience of curriculum/programming development (in an academic setting, the GLAM sector, or for industry).
  • Teaching experience at the post-secondary level or in galleries/museum preferred.
  • Excellent consultative, facilitation, consensus building and conflict resolution skills.
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of the philosophies, principles and practices of strategic planning, research, policy analysis and issue’s management.
  • Knowledge of and currency in the Creative Arts; multidisciplinary experience preferred.
  • Successful fundraising track record (grant writing, fundraising, revenue generating activities).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of budget and forecast planning.
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills, with experience in managing projects to completion, including strong data analytics skills.
  • Professional communicator and presenter; excellent writing, editing, proofreading, and oral communication skills; strong marketing skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure, manage competing priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, and demonstrate tact, diplomacy and discretion in dealing with high profile, sensitive, confidential and urgent matters.
  • Highly resourceful; able to problem solve and find creative solutions.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Professional (Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams).
  • Familiar with Indigenization and decolonization practices in the Creative Arts sector.
  • Demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusivity.
  • Available to work flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
