Job Description - Student Behaviour Coordinator

4Seasons Transportation provides safe, best-quality transportation for students living with disabilities in Calgary, ensuring they have reliable access to education. We are a leader in the student transportation industry, dedicated to delivering the highest standard of care and support to the students and families we serve.



The Student Behaviour Coordinator works with 4Seasons’ Operations Department to support both students and employees by leading and promoting safe, consistent, and best-practice approaches when working with students with disabilities on the school bus. This role leads the Student Behaviour Team and is responsible for providing guidance and in-field support to staff while building strong collaborative relationships with employees, schools and families to ensure each student’s transportation experience is safe, respectful, and aligned with best practices for supporting students with diverse needs. 



Time Commitment: Full-Time. This is an in-office position with both office duties and in-field responsibilities. The role does not accommodate for remote or at-home work.



Responsibilities



  • Daily driving to meet bus teams and complete ride-alongs on buses.

  • Provide leadership and oversight to the Student Behaviour Team, ensuring team members are well-equipped to support employees and students

  • Lead administrator and delegator for follow-up and in-field activities such as ride-alongs, securement troubleshooting, behavioural intervention, and route audits to provide ongoing support for students with complex needs, disabilities, and challenging behaviours.

  • Responsible for updating, maintaining and communicating administrative records and departmental tracking systems (including behaviour tracking, securement practices, safety interventions, and communication logs with TCSs, schools, and guardians).

  • Responsible for leading and organizing strong rapport and communication with schools, families, and student communities by coordinating meetings and completing daily communication with drivers, families, and schools.

  • Develop, coordinate, and deliver training on disability-related topics for employees.

  • Support and advance 4Seasons Transportation’s mission to positively impact the lives of students with disabilities and remain the leading accessible school transportation provider.



Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities



  • Strong knowledge and experience with individuals who have disabilities, in particular individuals with autism and behaviour support (e.g., stimming, triggers, aggressive behaviour, escalated or non-verbal behaviour). 

  • Strong understanding of hands-off, least-invasive, and safety-focused behavioural intervention strategies.

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience working with children with disabilities, with strong knowledge of behavioural intervention methods and techniques.

  • Strong understanding of diversity, equity, inclusion practices and trauma-informed practices.

  • Completion of a diploma or degree in Disability Studies or a related field (e.g., Social Work, Early Childhood).

  • Competent in maintaining organized, accurate, and confidential records.

  • Proven ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with others.

  • Strong skills in being self-directed and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously.

  • Knowledge or experience in the transportation or school bus industry is an asset.

  • Ability to speak multiple languages is considered a strong asset.



Physical and Mental Requirements



  • This role involves regular physical activity, including:

  • Daily in-field duties include riding along on buses, attending school meetings, and supporting or conducting training sessions.

  • Periods of sitting and sustained concentration in a busy office environment.

  • Lifting and pushing items up to 50 lbs.

  • Frequent bending, kneeling, and stretching during in-field tasks.

  • Must maintain a high level of mental alertness and visual acuity.

  • Strong physical stamina and good mental health are essential to effectively support students and staff in fast-paced and dynamic environments.

  • Ability to work in all types of weather conditions, both outdoors and on buses.

  • Expected to drive throughout the city on a daily basis.
