Student Information Systems Lead
The Student Information Systems Lead is a ten (10) month contractual employee paid in twenty-six (26) equal biweekly installments. This role requires annual ratification by Chief and Band Council and operates under the direction of School Administration.
Reporting directly to the Principal, this role provides leadership and oversight of the MySchoolSask (MSS) system, ensuring data accuracy, system integrity, staff support, and compliance with Ministry reporting requirements. The role also supports school communications and collaboration as it relates to student information.
The Student Information Systems Lead shall:
Cooperate with staff, administration, and Education Program objectives
Support efficient school operations through data systems and processes
Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and accuracy
Demonstrate leadership in data management and system use
1. System Management & Oversight
Oversee day-to-day operation of MySchoolSask (MSS), including attendance, scheduling, gradebook, and reporting
Configure and maintain school terms and timetables, courses and class structures
Ensure the system operates efficiently and effectively
2. Data Accuracy & Compliance
Ensure all student data is accurate, complete, and current (demographics, attendance, marks, program data)
Review and validate data prior to reporting
Ensure compliance with Ministry reporting requirements and timelines
Monitor errors and follow up with staff as required in Attendance, Scheduling and Student records
3. Reporting & Data Use
Generate reports for School administration (enrolment, attendance, grades) and Ministry submissions
Support data-informed decision making
Ensure consistency in reporting processes across staff
4. Staff Training & Support
Train staff on MSS functions including Attendance entry, Gradebook use and Reporting tools
Provide ongoing technical support and troubleshooting
Develop training materials, guides, and support resources
Support onboarding of new staff to MSS
5. User Access & Security
Set up and manage user accounts, roles, and permissions
Ensure confidentiality and appropriate access to student records
Follow provincial and local policies for data security and privacy
Monitor appropriate system usage
6. MSS Liaison & Communication
Serve as the primary contact for MSS within the school
Liaise with School staff, SLFN Education / IT supports and Ministry of Education
Communicate system updates, deadlines, and requirements to staff
Participate in MSS training and network meetings
7. System Improvement & Troubleshooting
Identify system issues and workflow inefficiencies
Troubleshoot technical and data-related problems
Recommend improvements to processes and system use
Assist with upgrades, updates, and implementation of new features
8. School Communication Support
Manage school communications strategy, update website and social media, produce newsletters
Support school-community engagement events
Coordinate photography and yearbook
Qualifications:
Experience with MySchoolSask (MSS) or student information systems preferred
Experience in a school or education environment preferred
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and digital platforms
