Supervisor - Excavation Services

For over 50 years, Park Paving Ltd. has been locally owned and operated, growing to become one of Edmonton’s largest and most respected road construction contractors.  We are currently seeking a Excavation Supervisor to join our Excavation Services team.

 This role is essential in managing the day-to-day execution of excavation scopes for various construction projects—ensuring worker compliance with safety regulations, managing personnel and personnel performance, and delivering high-quality results on time and within budget.

 Responsibilities:

•  Work with other department supervisors to coordinate and oversee the day-to-day operations of excavation crews in the execution of various construction projects.  Includes directly working with crews on active jobsites to ensure work is completed to specification and schedule.

• Manage crew personnel and assets based on project schedules, budgets, and resource allocations to meet contractual commitments.
• Work with other department supervision to recruit and develop personnel across all crew positions.
• Coordinate with internal stakeholders and trucking subcontractors to efficiently address haul demands and ensure smooth project execution.
• Monitor work progress/production, identify potential risks, and implement corrective measures.
• Promote a culture of safety, ensure that all personnel under your supervision are adhering to all safety policies and procedures.
• Maintain accurate and organized project documentation, including reports, logs, and records.
• Consistently deliver projects that meet quality standards, timelines, and budget targets.

Requirements:

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in supervising multiple construction crews, specifically in underground construction.
• Strong knowledge of heavy equipment operation and excavation processes, regulations, and safety standards.
• Excellent organizational, time management, and leadership skills—able to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Proven problem-solving ability and capacity to perform under pressure.
• Proficiency with project/construction management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Proficiency in estimating software and budget preparation.
• Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
• PMP designation or equivalent certification considered and asset.

Pay Scale: $45 to $48 per hour based on experience.
