Survey Assistant

Wood Geomatics is currently seeking a seasonal Survey Assistant to join our team. Position will be based out of our Lethbridge, AB office, but may require some out-of-town travel. Wood will provide accommodations for crews only when out of town work is required.

Key responsibilities:

Assist the Survey Crew Chief with construction, legal, and topographic surveys including, but not limited to:

• Setting up survey instruments {GPS, Total Stations, Levels, etc.),
• Marking and installing survey stakes,
• Marking and installing legal land markers,
• Digging and exposing survey evidence.
• Driving 1/2 to 3/4 -ton pickups,
• Operating quads/snowmobiles,
• Operation of survey grade GPS and total stations,
• Operation of chainsaws, augers, impact hammers and generators,
• Cleaning and maintaining survey equipment, vehicles, ancillary equipment,
• Walking long distances,
• Working long hours and shifts away from home,

Working in remote areas.

• High School Graduation,
• Current enrolment in or completion of related post-secondary training (civil, construction, materials) would be a definite asset, but not required,
• Preference given to those with previous experience in the construction industry,
• Valid driver’s license required, with a clean abstract,
• Must be mature and self-motivated with the ability to work under little supervision,
• Must be able to travel out of town and be willing to work overtime.
