Role:
- The System Verification Engineering Specialist - Operations: will report to the Director of Constellation System Verification (CSV)
- They will help to coordinate work between CSV team, Network Operations teams and functional groups for the Telesat Lightspeed LEO constellation, ensuring the system is ready for deployment, Network Over-The-Air testing (OTA), and System end-to-end acceptance testing.
Responsibilities:
- Operational Readiness: With support from the wider CSV team, lead the transition from system development to system deployment by coordinating the system readiness planning between Segment teams and the Network Operations teams
- Test Environment Management: Support the development of pre-production and production environments (including transitions between environments) required for initial and full network verification and deployment
- Verification Execution: Help to develop and maintain verification strategy, verification matrices, test philosophies, and procedures; participate in hardware/software reviews (PDR, CDR, TRR, TRB & DRB) plus coordination of the CSV led System Readiness Review (SysRR).
- Integration Coordination: Synchronize terrestrial network deployment tasks across segment teams to ensure hardware, software, and documentation are ready in time for satellite deployment
- Technical Collaboration: Partner with engineering and cross-functional teams to validate system performance and ensure seamless communication across network segments
- System Readiness Delivery: Ensures all operational pre-production and production systems meet Lightspeed readiness and mission objectives through timely delivery and completion of all necessary verification tasks
- Able to get stuff done: Working within a large multi-disciplinary team, have the ability to identify key issues, identify solution and drive them to consultation efficiently and effectively
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- Education: BSc/BEng or Master’s in; aerospace, Systems, Electrical/RF, or Computer Engineering or a related field
- Experience: 6–10 years in requirements-based testing/verification for complex Aerospace or Telecommunication systems.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Project Management, configuration control, Production and system quality control, non-conformance management, and system engineering verification protocols
Preferred Assets & Experience
- Experience in performing Aerospace/Space or Network integration and test activities, using Electrical and RF test systems
- System Engineering Design, development, and Operational Deployment of complexes Communication Networks
- Project or Program Management (PMP) experience of managing complex technical systems and organizing multi-disciplinary technical teams
Working Conditions:
- Full time role at Telesat’s Ottawa office, with hybrid work environment
- Working conditions are generally comfortable typical of an office environment
- Canadian and international travel may be required
