DART 3P99 D2 (Fall)

Two positions: Seminars 2 and 3 

Performance Praxis Portfolio 

Creation of an individual portfolio representing the relationship between creativity and analysis in a student’s work over the course of a Dramatic Arts program. Documentation, self-reflection, critical analysis, textual and media-based representation informed by performance historiography for a variety of audiences. 

Half course: asynchronous, online 

Compensation 

Teaching Assistant, Course Coordinator and Lab Demonstrator positions are paid according to the qualifications that the employee holds.  

  • Employees who do NOT hold a 4-year honours degree or a 3-year pass degree will be paid the undergraduate rate - $23.30 per hour. (Rate effective September 1, 2026) 

  • Employees who hold a 4-year honours degree or a 3-year pass degree will be paid the graduate rate - $36.67 per hour. (Rate effective September 1, 2026) 

  • In cases where additional duties are required as part of a Teaching Assistant’s duties, these hours shall be compensated at the appropriate Teaching Assistant rate.  

Duties 

The duties and responsibilities of the Teaching Assistant shall be in accordance with Article 22 of the CUPE Local 4207, Unit 1, Collective Agreement. These are made up of scheduled contact time with students and non-classroom time (including preparation of seminar material, student consultation, marking or grading, examination proctoring, attending lectures, holding office hours, and other course administration as may be required.

Qualifications 

1. MA or MFA in theatre and performance or a relevant, related discipline, or currently enrolled in a master’s program relevant to theatre and performance.  

2. Formal training in post-secondary teaching or successful post-secondary teaching experience. Formal training may consist of workshops offered through Brock’s Centre for Pedagogical Innovation or similar units in other universities. Evidence of teaching success may consist of previous course evaluations, teaching letters of recommendation, examples of learning activities designed, or other objective evidence. Please do not submit isolated comments or letters from individual students. 

3. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Please give evidence in the cover letter of application. 

4. Excellent organizational skills. Please give evidence in the cover letter of application. 

5. Demonstrated commitment to anti-oppressive, decolonizing, anti-racist, anti-supremacist, or related approaches to theatre making, theatre pedagogy, and/or theatrical practices. Evidence of commitment may include, for example, relevant course-work at post-secondary level, scholarly presentations or publications, development of professional theatre practices, academic or professional leadership, consulting work, or professional development or training. 

6. Demonstrated ability to use the BRIGHTSPACE online learning management system, the BrockDB online portal, the OASIS system for managing student accommodations, or equivalent systems in other institutions.
