Shift Transit is seeking a Team Lead – Field Operations to support and guide daily field activities across our bike share network. This role plays a key part in ensuring operational efficiency, safety, and service quality, while acting as a point of support for Field Operations team members.
The Team Lead works closely with dispatch and management to address operational challenges, maintain system performance, and contribute to a collaborative and high-performing team environment. This position requires strong problem-solving skills, leadership capabilities, and a hands-on approach in the field.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform a pre- and post-inspection of the rebalancing vehicle and address any issues with the Field Operations team.
Follow instructions and respond to dispatch effectively.
Retrieve inoperative bicycles by direction or via inoperative bicycle software.
Inspect docking stations for operability, safety, and cleanliness.
Maintain the area around bike stations as needed to allow members to use the service seamlessly.
Set the highest standards when interacting with current and potential customers.
Collaborate with the Field Operations team to constantly improve the system and escalate any issues to dispatch.
Perform light maintenance functions such as refilling receipt paper, and graffiti removal.
Ability to operate a variety of vehicles (with/without a trailer attachment) and use bicycle and/or public transportation for travel.
Drive a variety of vehicles (large van, cube van, pick-up truck with a trailer) to redistribute bikes as needed based on real-time demand data.
Load and unload vehicles with bikes. Communicate with dispatchers and follow instructions delivered through our dispatch software.
Evaluate bike safety and bike station condition, and report issues to dispatch as needed.
Maintain knowledge of the system to provide excellent customer service to current and potential customers in the field.
Possessing a crane operating licence and forklift licence will be considered an asset.
Required Skills and Experience:
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Ability to work independently and take initiative in a fast-paced environment.
High attention to safety, quality, and operational standards.
Valid driver’s licence with a clean driving record.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks (lifting, bending, crouching).
Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions year-round.
Comfortable operating vehicles and working in an urban environment.
Previous experience in field operations or team leadership is considered an asset.
Forklift or crane operating licence is an asset.
Additional Information
