The Education Quality and Accountability Office (EQAO) is an arms-length government agency focused on modernizing Ontario's approach to large-scale assessment. This transformation is part of an exciting mandate to contribute to the continuous improvement of Ontario's publicly funded education system. The agency creates and delivers engaging and relevant assessments for students that lead to further insights into their learning.

The agency is dedicated to building a strong team to support the development and delivery of its assessment program. EQAO is seeking an experienced Technical Analyst to provide user support, systems analysis and design expertise in support of the design, development, implementation and maintenance of cost effective Information Technology (IT) and Business Solutions for EQAO and provide onsite and remote IT activities in support of the agency's business goals, objectives and mandate.

What can I expect to do in this role?

In this role you will:
- Provide accurate and timely client support with respect to EQAO computer systems and applications.
- Identify user requirements and recommend the development, enhancement, and/or acquisition of appropriate software and hardware solutions.
- Develop complete IT systems, operations, and user documentation.
-Perform regular maintenance operations and testing.

How do I qualify?

Technical Knowledge:

- Demonstrated knowledge of computer system technologies, operating systems, database structures, and network system technologies
Demonstrated knowledge of Windows operating system and related Microsoft technologies like O365, Azure based tools, services and technologies
Knowledge of Apple technologies such as MacOS and iOS
- Knowledge of standard/customized application software
- Demonstrated knowledge of methods and techniques for systems analysis, design, and development
Knowledge of programming concepts and languages
- Demonstrated knowledge of computer/network systems maintenance utilities and database/network backup, restore, and recovery procedures

Technical Skills:

You have:
- Experience designing system specifications to meet business requirements for marking center support
- Applicable experience conducting programming, coding, and testing for assigned systems development projects
- Experience supporting users in a service desk setup both in-person and remotely to resolve end-user issues
- Demonstrated experience providing accurate and timely client support for systems and applications
- Experience installing, supporting, and maintaining systems
- Demonstrated experience providing technical installation of microcomputer products in support of agency goals
- Experience in the development and maintenance of systems manuals/documentation
- Experience in asset management by creating and maintaining detailed and accurate asset inventories and creating related reports

Communication Skills:

You have:
- Strong oral communication skills for gathering information on technology needs and explaining system operations
- Effective written communication skills for preparing systems documentation and user manuals
- Interpersonal skills for supporting clients across the agency/OPS and working as a team member within the unit

Analytical and Problem-solving Skills:

You can:
- Analyze client programs and requirements to evaluate options for solutions (e.g., enhancing existing systems, developing new systems, purchasing off-the-shelf technology) and making recommendations.
- Identify, analyze, and resolve system operational issues by applying problem-solving skills.
- Identify user requirements and recommend suitable software and hardware solutions.
