The technical services officer (EG-04) carries out an inventory of various tasks, such as:
- Participate in construction or renovation projects, providing technical support and carrying out work as required.
- Coordinate and manage the technical services team
- Educate staff on safety practices and preventive maintenance procedures.
- Provide advice and recommendations to improve the efficiency and safety of operations
- Prepare applications and technical drawings; drafting contract terms and conditions; soliciting and evaluating bids; explain the requirements of the job to contractors; Manage contracts and conduct on-site inspections to ensure that equipment, materials and work are in compliance with agreements.

The Asset support Technician (EG-03) conducts an inventory of various tasks, such as:
- Conduct regular inspections of infrastructure for signs of deterioration or potential damage.
- Manage facility repair and maintenance projects.
- Manage inventory of tools, equipment and materials required to maintain assets, ensuring that necessary supplies are available at all times.

Work environment

Parks Canada is responsable for protecting both the natural and cultural canadian heritage while also provinding Canadians and futur generations with memorable experiences. The la Mauricie and Western Quebec Field Unit is responsable for many National Historic Sites spread out it the Estrie, Montérégie as well as in the Montreal Metropolitan region as well as the La Mauricie National Park.

Intent of the process

This process could be used to create a list of qualified candidates to staff similar positions with different employee status, security level or language requirements, in these same locations or elsewhere in the country.

Information you must provide

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

EG-04: College diploma in construction engineering, architecture, civil engineering, mechanical engineering or an acceptable combination of education (minimum HSD), training and experience.

EG-03: College diploma in construction engineering, architecture, civil engineering, mechanical engineering or another field of study related to the position.

EG-04
- Experience in human resources management and financial management
- Recent and significant* experience in drafting technical documents such as requests for proposals and statements of work required for the provision of contractual services as well as in monitoring contracts.
- Experience in coordinating asset maintenance activities, monitoring capital project management and/or managing operational activities.

EG-03
- Asset: Have a history of writing technical documents such as RFPs, RFPs, and job descriptions.

* Recent and significant is defined as at least 2 years experience within the last 10 years.

If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)

*ASSETS*
- Experience supervising tradespeople
- Experience in trail maintenance (development, design and/or rehabilitation)
- Experience in compiling and maintaining technical records and accurately estimating materials/resources required to complete projects or maintenance work.

* KNOWLEDGE *
- Knowledge of the various building codes and standards at the provincial and federal levels.
- Knowledge of OHS standards in the construction industry.

* ABILITIES *
- Ability to draft specialized documents such as technical notes, statements of work and requests for proposals required to solicit the services of contractors.
- Ability to organize work and set priorities and simultaneously manage multiple work teams responsible for infrastructure maintenance in order to ensure efficient use of resources.
- Ability to conduct research, evaluate situations, data and anomalies on systems, equipment or structures and to make recommendations and solutions to identified deficiencies.
- Ability to plan, prepare, monitor and manage projects, service contracts, construction and acquisition of goods.

- Willingness to work and/or travel in varied terrain, weather conditions, isolated locations and by various means of transportation.
- Willingness to obtain certification in the operation of various forms of ground transportation (e.g. all-terrain vehicles) and marine transportation (motorized and non-motorized vessels) as required

Conditions of employment

Reliability Status security clearance

- Willingness to wear a Parks Canada uniform and prescribed protective equipment
- Possession of a valid class 5 Driver’s Licence
- Willingness to obtain certification in the operation of various forms of ground (e.g. all-terrain vehicles) and marine (motorized and non-motorized vessels) as required
