Responsibilities

Duties include Technical Support and training on all products for Field Service Technicians, Assist Sales with takeoff decisions regarding product and its application and provide on-site technical expertise as required. Assist with program evaluation for assembling, installing, wiring, testing, and troubleshooting electronic control system components used in fire Alarm applications.

Nature & Scope

Provide Technical Support on all Fire Alarm products for Field Service Technicians.

Provide on-site technical guidance to Field Service Technicians, as required.

Assist Field Service Technicians with program evaluation for assembling, installing, wiring, testing, and troubleshooting electronic control system components used in Fire Alarm applications.

Maintain a working knowledge of applicable codes/standards and current technology.

Identify to the manager any repetitive defects found in products.

Follow processes for troubleshooting and reporting defective products to the manufacturer.

Responsible for verifying projects are assembled as per design details and regulatory standards.

Communicate with Team Members and Field Service Technicians for each project to ensure projects are running according to timelines.

Available to travel to project sites and provide on-site technical expertise / guidance / assembly support.

This role will provide guidance and support to Field Service Technicians but will not provide direct customer service or be working directly on any fire alarm panel.

Provide technical sales support to assist Fire Systems Sales personnel with project quotations decisions regarding product application.

Provide service training on new product releases.

Provide technical assistance to sales team on the application of Edwards products to improve accuracy in projects of bill of materials.

Provide assistance and training to service team driving operational efficiencies including the programming, testing, and troubleshoot of Edwards products.

Prepare project details to send to Head Office Rack & Test technicians

All other duties as directed by the manager.

Qualifications

College/University graduate from a recognized Electrical/Electronic Technician Program, or equivalent experience.

Minimum of 10 years of experience in the fire alarm or electronics field, or a related discipline.

Must have knowledge of industry regulatory documents including ULC, NFC, and NBC

Solid understanding of EST4, EST3, EST3X, iO, FireShield series Fire Alarm Panels and applicable field devices as well as FireWorks Command Centres.

Use of PC for programming or manufacturing documentation including various software tools.

Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, text editors.

Ability to learn, through training, manufacturers configuration utility software.

Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Highly organized and able to work under pressure.

Adaptable to changing environments.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Self-motivated with a positive outlook.

Product training is provided.
