Location: Templemead; 62 Templemead Drive, Hamilton, ON L8W 3Z7
Total Hours per Week: 37.5
Schedule: Monday – Friday 8:30am – 4:30pm
Pay Rate (per Collective Agreement, includes wage grants): $23.79 per hour

About the Role
As a Teacher’s Assistant, you are a key support to the classroom, the children, and the centre. Your flexibility, care, and teamwork help maintain a positive, organized, and safe environment for all. Duties vary from centre to centre, but your contributions will always make a meaningful impact.
Qualifications

• Demonstrated awareness of working with children
• Experience and ability to effectively interact with children requiring behavioural guidance
• Excellent problem-solving, interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
• Ability to work as part of a team and follow direction from supervisors
• Flexibility and adaptability to support various duties and changing needs
• Passion for nurturing children and supporting their growth
• Knowledge of How Does Learning Happen? and the ability to apply it in practice

• Standard First Aid with CPR Level C
• Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Police Check
• Proof of up-to-date immunizations (TB, Tetanus, MMR)

• Meet and greet children and families at drop-off and pick-up
• Assist staff as they arrive, including helping in classrooms or other areas of the centre
• Deliver and serve snacks, tidy classrooms, or support other centre needs as assigned

• Help settle children during sleep time

• Provide coverage in classrooms during lunches, breaks, programming time and ensure children are comfortable, performing sleep checks and offering comfort as needed
• Follow the plans for the day and support children’s learning and engagement
• Adapt to different duties as required by the centre’s schedule and needs

• Assist with laundry, tidying, or kitchen tasks as needed
• Be flexible and ready to support co-workers and the centre wherever help is required
