The School

Gilbert Paterson Middle School serves approximately 850 students and is a dual track English and French Immersion school. Subjects

Gilbert Paterson Middle School is seeking a Grade 7 Humanities teacher to join their team for the 2026-27 school year! The successful candidate will be responsible to teach English Language Arts and Social Studies. The ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic educator who:

• Has a background in English Language Arts and Social Studies (asset);
• Has the ability to work closely with the staff to build a positive and inclusive school culture;
• Demonstrates the ability and deep belief in forming positive and genuine relationships for the purpose of learning in an inclusive classroom;
• Possess a passion and willingness to work with students outside of the classroom in an extra-curricular setting;
• Demonstrate a commitment to prioritizing an anti-racist and anti-oppressive learning environment for all students, staff, and parents.

Thank you for taking the time to express your interest in being considered for a voluntary transfer to Gilbert Paterson Middle School! Although this process is an expression of interest, it is still a competition amongst teachers in the division who currently hold a continuing teaching contract, so applicants will not be guaranteed an interview or a voluntary transfer.

• Applicants must possess or be eligible to obtain an Alberta Teaching Certificate.

Conditions of Employment

In order to ensure and maintain a safe and secure working and learning environment, applicants new to Lethbridge School

Division who are offered employment must provide:

• A police information check; including Vulnerable Sector Check from Police Services or an RCMP detachment that does not have any charges or convictions.
• A satisfactory Intervention Record Check from South Region Alberta Child and Family Services.
• Proof of photo identification, may be a valid driver’s licence, provincial identification card as issued by a licensed government registry office, valid passport or Nexus card. If one cannot be provided, a new card must be obtained and proof of application provided within three days of hire.
• Documentation of a valid Social Insurance Number in the employee’s legal name. If valid Social Insurance documentation in the current legal name can not be provided, the successful candidate will be required to obtain a new one within three days of hire.
