Timber-Tech is looking for skilled Sawyers to join their team in Lethbridge. This is a full-time position, typically hours of work are 6:00am-4:30pm Monday-Friday. The starting wage ranges from $18.00 to $22.00 depending on experience levels. A full benefits package is available following a successful probation period.
As a Sawyer, you'll be responsible for accurately cutting raw lumber into the individual components that form the structure of our wood trusses. Your cuts provide the foundation for the entire build process, making this role essential to ensuring every truss we produce is strong, safe, and up to spec. You'll use industrial saws, read detailed cut sheets, and help keep production flowing smoothly and safely.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Operate automated or manual saws to cut lumber accurately to required dimensions based on truss design specifications.
Review cut lists and drawings to ensure correct sizes, quantities, and angles are cut for each order.
Adjust saw settings and blades as needed for different cuts. Ensure equipment is properly maintained and operated safely.
Check lumber for defects, warping, or inconsistencies. Inspect cuts for accuracy and quality before sending pieces to the assembly team.
Sort and organize cut components by job and truss type. Ensure efficient flow of materials to assembly stations.
Perform routine cleaning and minor maintenance on saw equipment to ensure safe operation.
Notify supervisor of low stock or quality issues with incoming lumber. Help track usage and minimize material waste.
Work safely and keep the work area clean.
Report any unsafe or hazardous condition or situation.
wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
Follow the company Health and Safety and Quality policies, processes, procedures
Participate in scheduled area inspections using inspection checklist forms.
Assist with cleanup, minor repairs, and other shop or yard tasks as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience operating saws or woodworking equipment preferred
Ability to read and understand cut lists, tape measures, and angles
Strong attention to detail and a commitment to safety
Physically fit and able to stand, lift, and bend for extended periods
Comfortable working in a team environment and in various weather conditions
Previous experience in truss manufacturing or construction is an asset
