Description

Job Title:  Trade Compliance Specialist
Location: Toronto, ON

UNIQLO is a leading brand of the Fast Retailing Group, one of the largest apparel retailers in the world. UNIQLO respects the individuality and lifestyle of all customers and takes pride in creating high-quality, long-lasting, innovative clothing at an affordable price.

Position Overview:

We are seeking a detail-oriented, analytical Trade Compliance Specialist to ensure our import and export activities fully comply with Canadian trade regulations.  This role will focus on optimizing duty savings, managing customer-related risks, and driving continuous improvement in trade compliance processes.

If you have strong experience in HS classification, FTA management, and Canadian customs procedures – and enjoy collaborating across teams to solve problems – this is an excellent opportunity to make a measurable impact.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate with custom brokers, supply chain, and production teams to resolve information requests and prevent clearance delays.
  • Respond to daily broker inquiries to ensure smooth import operations.
  • Review import declaration data weekly to confirm eligibility for Canadian preference programs (i.e., CPTPP, LDC).
  • Validate Certificates of Origin prior to import declarations to minimize refund claims.
  • Oversee and track the refund process for air shipments and delayed Certificates of Origin.
  • Perform weekly reconciliations of FOB values versus declared values and investigate discrepancies.
  • Respond to daily broker inquiries to ensure smooth import operations.
What You Bring:
  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in International Trade, Supply Chain, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 1+ year of experience in Customs Compliance/Import Operations within a Canadian context.
  • Familiarity with Canadian preference programs (CPTPP, LDC) and preferential rules of origin is an asset.
  • Proficiency in Excel for data analysis and reporting.
  • Experience with Microsoft Copilot (Office 365) for workflow automation and document drafting is a plus.
  • CCS designation (preferred but not required).
  • Exceptional attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and excellent communication abilities.
What We Offer:
  • Competitive salary, performance bonus, and comprehensive benefits.
  • A high-visibility role with collaboration across global and regional executive teams.
  • Career growth in a company that values ambition, innovation, integrity, and performance.
  • A results-driven, entrepreneurial culture where your decisions drive real business impact.
  • Work in a modern office that is easily accessible by public transportation.

Please note:  All job postings at UNIQLO Canada Inc. are to fill existing vacancies within our organization.

Annual Salary: $75,600 - $79,200 CAD

The annual salary is based on several factors, including, but not limited to, overall experience, relevant experience, education level, certifications, applicable skills and expertise, and the position's location.
