Job Description - Trade Strategy & Customer Planning Analyst - Maple, Ontario

Do you have a passion for driving commercial performance through insight, strategy, and flawless execution? This is your chance! Join the Arla Commercial Excellence team as our Trade Strategy & Customer Planning Analyst. This exciting role is a great opportunity to be part of a dynamic, world‑class Consumer Packaged Goods and Dairy Manufacturing company.

As our Trade Strategy & Customer Planning Analyst, you will play a critical role in optimizing trade spend, enhancing customer planning, and delivering data‑driven insights that support strategic decision‑making. You will bring analytical rigor, storytelling excellence, and a deep understanding of trade, pricing, and promotional performance to help drive profitable growth across the organization. Working closely with Sales, Marketing, Finance and our insights teams, you will influence strategy and empower our Customer Business Teams (CBTs) to execute with excellence.

About the role

Reporting to the Manager, Commercial Excellence, you will:

  • Act as a specialized user within the Trade Spend & Promotional Planning system—owning updates, data integrity, workflows, and outputs (incl. reporting) across the sales organization, while supporting the future state of Trade Spend & Promotional Planning system tools and processes

  • Assess promotional trade spend efficiency and effectiveness; quantify promo ROI and recommend optimizations by customer, channel, and pack

  • Maintain standardized promo post event assessments and scorecards to drive continuous improvement across customer business teams

  • Contribute to the sales customer planning process, including consolidation of key drivers (pricing, promo, distribution, assortment, mix) for management review

  • Consolidate and coordinate volume assumptions as part of the innovation process (sell in, sell through, cannibalization, trial/repeat)

  • Collaborate with the Commercial Financial Analyst relative to Net Revenue Management analysis across price, promo, pack/size, mix, and trade terms levers and support tracking progress against initiatives and targets

  • Update business case builds for pricing, promo, trade terms, and innovation, modelling Net Revenue, Profit and Return on Investment

  • Lead business contingency planning and management; work with the Sales and Marketing teams to identify drivers to support volume and profit growth opportunities and summarize contingency options

  • Provide concise, executive ready reporting and recommendations to leadership for rapid decision making and plan course correction

  • Standardize reporting templates and definitions to drive consistency across CBTs; steward data accuracy and timeliness

  • Build collaborative relationships across Sales, Marketing, Finance, and PPL (as defined internally) to deliver transformation and commercial outcomes

  • Aid in translating complex analytics into clear narratives for both technical and non-technical audiences; facilitate alignment and decisions across stakeholders

Who are you?

You are a commercially minded analyst with a passion for turning data into clear, compelling insights that influence business decisions. With at least three years of experience in commercial analytics, trade spend, Net Revenue Management (NRM) or category roles—ideally within CPG—you bring strong financial acumen, advanced Excel skills, and confidence working with tools such as SAP, Power BI/Tableau, and syndicated data sources like NielsenIQ or Circana. You thrive in a fast‑paced environment, demonstrate exceptional attention to detail, and communicate complex information in a concise, executive‑ready manner. Collaborative by nature, you build strong relationships across teams, bring a positive “can‑do” mindset, and take ownership of your continuous learning and development.

B.S. or B.A. degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

What do we offer?

The compensation range for this role is $82,000-$90,000, and this posting is for a current vacancy.

In pursuing this exciting opportunity, the selected individuals will be awarded with a competitive compensation package.
