Position Overview

The Traffic Control Person at Professional Excavators & Construction Inc. is responsible for directing and managing the flow of traffic safely around construction sites, ensuring the safety of workers, motorists, and pedestrians. This role is vital in maintaining a secure and efficient work zone by setting up appropriate traffic control devices and enforcing traffic control plans.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up and maintain traffic control devices such as cones, signs, and barriers to direct traffic safely around construction zones.
  • Monitor and manage traffic flow, providing clear instructions and signals to motorists and pedestrians.
  • Communicate effectively with construction crews and other personnel to coordinate traffic control activities.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant traffic control plans, regulations, and safety guidelines.
  • Report any unsafe conditions or traffic incidents promptly to supervisors.
  • Maintain a visible and professional presence to ensure public safety.
  • Assist in inspecting traffic control setups to ensure proper placement and effectiveness.
  • Valid Traffic Control Person certification or equivalent training is required.
  • Experience in traffic control or related construction field is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of traffic control plans and safety protocols.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and stand for extended periods.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Reliability, punctuality, and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Valid driver’s license is an asset.
