Knappett Industries (2006) Ltd. is a privately owned construction company with operations bases in Nanaimo, Courtenay, Port Alberni, Prince George, and Fort St. John, BC. Since commencing operations in 1988, Knappett has grown to be a leading provider of civil construction services for major infrastructure, residential subdivision development, underground utility installation & replacement, road building, land clearing projects in British Columbia. Over the past 30 years Knappett Industries Ltd. has maintained a strong and accelerating growth rate, with operations currently serving Western Canada.
Responsibilities:
Follow all safety protocols and contribute to the success of the safety program
Ensure the safety of workers, motorists and pedestrians within and around the site
Set up traffic control devices such as cones, barricades, and signs to guide traffic safely
Identify and execute the location and means for all control points, ensuring superior visibility to oncoming traffic
Direct and control traffic at construction sites or other locations as assigned
Communicate with drivers and pedestrians to ensure their safety and provide directions as needed
Perform other duties as required, requested or assigned
When not completing traffic control tasks, join the crew in laboring tasks
Requirements:
Valid BCCSA traffic control ticket - MUST Have
Ability to take and follow instruction
Professional demeanor when dealing with the public
Able to work outside in all-weather at all times of the year
Ability to work as a team as well as independently when required
Physically fit and able to lift 50 pounds or more
Valid provincial driver’s license
Assets:
Recent working experience in similar role
1-3 year of traffic control experience
Lane Closure training
First aid training
This position is compensated at an hourly rate. Employees are eligible for enrollment in our company benefits package following successful completion of a three month probationary period.
Compensation will be determined by the successful applicant’s level of training and experience. Submissions will be reviewed and only short listed applicants will be contacted for interviews.
