Role purpose: To provide leadership and supervision to a team of approximately 80 Transit Operators, ensuring safe and efficient transit operations that meet passenger needs across the Sea to Sky Region. This role supports the organizational culture of safety, inclusivity, and excellence in service delivery.
Knowledge and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent
Several years' experience as a Transit Operator with supervisory experience preferred; candidates with management or supervisory experience in related fields considered
Demonstrated aptitude for conflict resolution and customer service
Class 1 or Class 2 driver's license with air brake endorsement
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) is an asset
Experience in transit scheduling considered an asset

Detail-oriented with focus on safety and compliance
Proficient in using transit operations and scheduling tools
Key Accountabilities:
Transit Operations Management
Provide direct, on-road supervision of all transit operations in Squamish, Whistler, and Pemberton
Monitor radio communications and transit exchanges, respond to operational issues
Dispatch and make temporary routing, driver, and vehicle assignment changes due to traffic, capacity, breakdowns, or weather
Conduct annual evaluations for Conventional, Custom, and Community transit operators
Safety and Compliance
Ensure all operating procedures and safety standards are adhered to
Verify compliance with regulations and correct staff as needed
Identify workplace safety hazards and develop/implement controls
Initiate emergency assistance in incidents such as collisions or passenger injuries, including formal investigations
Ensure incident and collision reports are completed timely
Performance Monitoring and Reporting
Perform covert and overt audits of on-time performance
Maintain a detailed daily log of events, including missed or late service, customer concerns, passenger pass-ups, and driver notes
Work Schedule
4 days on / 4 days off rotation, working 12-hour shifts
Includes early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays
Typical shifts: 5:30 am – 5:30 pm or 1:30 pm – 1:30 am
Wage
$65,000 or more depending on level of experience. This role comes with comprehensive benefits program as well.
