Vertex Resource Group Ltd. is seeking a Transportation Compliance Coordinator to support the maintenance of the company’s transportation compliance program. This role will act as a subject matter resource for transportation compliance requirements, ensuring that existing processes, documentation, and regulatory requirements are consistently followed across the organization.
The successful candidate will work closely with operations, drivers, Fleet and the Corporate Safety team to help keep transportation compliance programs organized, accurate, and aligned with regulatory requirements. This role focuses on maintaining established systems and procedures while providing guidance and education to employees on transportation compliance requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Support and coordinate Vertex’s Transportation Compliance Program.
Maintain transportation compliance processes, ensuring existing procedures and regulatory requirements are consistently followed.
Serve as a knowledge resource for transportation compliance, helping employees understand and follow applicable regulations and company processes.
Provide guidance to drivers and operations teams regarding hours of service, driver logs, TDG requirements, and DOT regulations.
Assist with driver onboarding and documentation, ensuring all regulatory requirements and driver files are complete and properly maintained.
Maintain, audit, and organize transportation compliance records including driver files, driver logs (including electronic logs), trip inspections, and supporting documentation.
Conduct regular compliance reviews and audits to ensure records meet National Safety Code and regulatory requirements.
Monitor and review Carrier Profiles across jurisdictions, track Safety Fitness Ratings, and report transportation compliance metrics to management.
Utilize GPS and fleet monitoring systems to support driver safety and regulatory compliance.
Support divisions with compliance requirements under the Transportation of Dangerous Goods Act and related regulations.
Assist with transportation-related incident reviews or investigations as required.
Qualifications
Minimum three (3) years of experience working with transportation safety or compliance programs.
Experience maintaining and administering transportation compliance documentation and records.
Working knowledge of National Safety Code (NSC) Standards and provincial and federal transportation regulations.
Experience reviewing or auditing driver logs and driver qualification files.
Familiarity with U.S. cross-border transportation requirements, including FMCSA and DOT regulations, considered an asset.
Strong administrative skills with high attention to detail and strong organizational abilities.
Ability to communicate regulatory requirements clearly and provide guidance to drivers and operational teams.
Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record.
Ability to travel occasionally for business purposes.
