We're looking for a permanent full-time Trauma Therapist to join our Rapid Access Addiction Medicine team! 



    The Trauma Therapist will provide responsive integrated care to individuals seeking treatment for substance use/ concurrent disorders and collaborate on treatment plans and clinical case presentations.  The focus of the Trauma Therapist is to minimize the potential harm and re-traumatization and to enhance safety and resilience for clients with mental health and addiction challenges. 



    Status: Permanent full-time, 37.5 hours per week, some evenings as needed. Note, this posting is for an active vacancy.



    Salary: $74,028.74 - $87,411.79 annually. (Candidate qualifications will be considered when determining the starting salary)



    Location: This position is based out of 60 West Drive, Brampton. Although we operate within a hybrid workplace model, staff are required to have on-site and/or community presence as per program and client needs.



    What You Will Do:



    • Conduct individual therapy sessions adhering to Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (TF-CBT) protocol and best practices

    • Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments

    • Devise and deliver therapeutic treatment to ensure progress toward goals, including management of crisis and life-threatening behaviors, adhering to the TF-CBT treatment model

    • Plan, organize and co-facilitate TF-CBT skills groups

    • Participate in TF-CBT team consultation

    • Communicate information, both oral and written, regarding assessments, treatment plans and evaluations to the treatment team, client, referral source and other caregivers within practice/agency/legal guidelines

    • Maintain appropriate record-keeping/documentation, statistical and outcome measurement tools as required by CMHA/Peel Dufferin policies and procedures

    • Establish and maintain professional alliances with agencies/institutions

    • Provide responsive integrated care to individuals seeking treatment for substance use disorders

    • Provide treatment plans and participate in bi-weekly clinical case presentations

    • Establish and implement safety plans to mitigate risk as required based on clients presenting concerns

    • Work effectively and collaboratively with program teams, internal and external to CMHA/Peel Dufferin

    What You Need to Join Our Team:



    • A Masters level degree in psychology, social work or relevant health or social science field

    • Registration with relevant regulatory college/registering body is required

    • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in providing individual and group-based comprehensive Trauma Focused – Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

    • Experience working with individuals who have complex mental health and addictions issues

    • Experience working with individuals who engage in self-harming and self-injurious behaviors or who are at high risk to do so

    • Minimum 3 years of experience within the health services sector with in-depth knowledge of complex clinical issues

    • Demonstrated experience working within a multidisciplinary team and evidence of an understanding of the importance of partnerships and collaboration.

    • Strong interpersonal skills with proven ability to approach, listen, build trust, and communicate across diverse cultures and intersectionality. Willingness to continually improve understanding around cultural competence.

    • Openness to operate from an anti-racist, anti-oppressive, 2SLGBTQ+ affirming and intersectional framework

    • Willingness to learn and apply practical understanding of different elements of diversity, such as gender identity/expression, race/cultural background, religion, sexual orientation, disability, immigration and precarious status, family status, etc.

    • Fluency in a second language, including ASL (American Sign Language) is considered an asset

    • Valid Canadian driver’s license and access to an insured automobile in good repair

    • A satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Screening (Police Check) report
