The Tŝilhqot’in Nation has always asserted its inherent right to self-government, including jurisdiction over its families and children. As part of this journey, Tŝilhqot’in Nidlin ("We are Tŝilhqot’in") was created to exercise jurisdiction and ensure culturally grounded family services across the Nation.


 


The Sutsel Ghidelh provides independent oversight to support high-quality, culturally grounded child and family programs and services delivered by Tsilhqot'in communities. This role leads Tsilhqot'in Nidlin's Nation-wide quality assurance framework, helping ensure programs and services are implemented in accordance with Tŝilhqot'in Law, Nation-wide policies, practice guidelines, and quality standards while supporting continuous improvement across the Nation.


 


The Sutsel Ghidelh monitors and reports on Nation-wide program and service delivery outcomes, develops performance measures and indicators, conducts practice reviews, identifies systemic risks and opportunities for improvement, and provides recommendations to leadership, governance, and community teams to strengthen child and family services across the Nation. The role also supports the development of quality assurance processes, evaluation frameworks, and data systems that inform decision-making and continuous improvement.



Qualifications



  • Post-secondary education in a related field (e.g., Human Services, Quality Management, Public Administration, Business Administration); equivalent combinations  of  education and experience will be considered.

  • Minimum five (5) years’ progressive experience in child and family services, social services, or Indigenous service delivery.

  • Minimum three (3) years’ experience in leadership or supervisory role.

  • Experience in quality assurance, compliance, practice evaluation, or performance monitoring within service delivery systems.

  • Strong understanding of Indigenous child and family legislation and practice frameworks (e.g., CFCSA, AOPSI, delegated agency models, federal legislation such as Bill C-92).

  • Knowledge of Tŝilhqot’in Law, governance, culture, and community context, with a commitment to culturally grounded practice.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, reporting, and communication skills.



Working Conditions and Expectations



  • Must reside in, or be willing to move to, Tŝilhqot’in Nation territory (or Williams Lake area, BC)

  • Frequent travel within and outside Tŝilhqot’in Territory, including consistent visits to each of the six Tŝilhqot’in communities

  • Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and additional hardware

  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs

  • Valid BC Driver’s License required

  • Clean criminal records check including vulnerable sector check
