Turf Irrigation Technician

HOURLY RATE $41.29 per hour, Schedule “B” Outside Employees

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION 

• Grade 12 Diploma or GED

LICENSES / CERTIFICATES 

• Valid Class three (3) BC Driver’s License with Air Endorsement and clear Driver’s Abstract


• Turf Management Certificate or Equivalent


• Pesticide Applicators Certificate


• IIABC – Certified Irrigation Technician Level 1 & 2 or Equivalent

EXPERIENCE 

• Two (2) years of experience turf management and commercial irrigation

SPECIFIC SKILLS 

• Sound trouble shooting and diagnostic skills


• Able to read and interpret landscaping, infrastructure plans and drawings


• Leadership ability to effectively supervise staff


• 
  

  Able to plan, schedule and coordinate deployment of manpower and equipment

  
  


• 
  

  Effective human relations and communications skills, both written and oral

  
  


• 
  

  Knowledge of computers and related software and general office equipment

  
  


• 
  

  Loader Single and Tandem Axle Dump Trucks, Turf Maintenance Equipment

  
  


• 
  

  Knowledge of municipal, provincial and federal standards

  
  

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS 

• 
  

  Ensure courtesy and tact is exercised in the exchange of routine information with other utility companies, City employees, Provincial Government Departments, contractors and the public

  
  


• 
  

  Good working knowledge of WorkSafe BC Regulations and City Health and Safety Policy and procedures

  
  


• 
  

  Available and willing to work various shifts, schedules, weekends, and statutory holidays in accordance with the Collective Agreement

  
  


• 
  

  Respond to emergency call-outs
