Rainy River
Situated in beautiful northwestern Ontario, 65 km northwest of Fort Frances, the Rainy River mine is an open pit and underground, gold and silver producing, residential mine site.
The Rainy River mine, located adjacent to the Ontario/Minnesota border is 65 kilometers northwest of Fort Frances, Ontario and is situated half way between Winnipeg, Manitoba and Thunder Bay, Ontario The area is home to more than 130 species of birds and large populations of moose, black bear and deer. If you enjoy outdoor activities including hunting, fishing, winter sports and lake country then this is an area you will love to live and work in.
Applicants who reside in Northwestern Ontario and have experience working in a cross-cultural environment, coupled with knowledge of the unique challenges and opportunities presented to those living in the Northwest Ontario, are assets. About The Role
Position: Underground Heavy -Duty Mechanic Lead Hand
Schedule: 14/14 – 6am-6pm
Reports To: Underground Maintenance Shift Supervisor
Role Overview
The role of the Lead Hand Heavy Duty Mechanic is to take a leadership role within the maintenance team, providing guidance and support for the troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of heavy underground mining equipment. Working closely with supervisors, this position ensures that mechanical issues are efficiently diagnosed and addressed, while ensuring that all tasks are completed safely and in accordance with operational procedures and industry standards. The Lead Hand also helps coordinate daily workflow, supports safety compliance, and contributes to the overall reliability and performance of the equipment. The Leadhand will fill in for supervisor duties in the absence of a supervisor on shift, which the duties will include performing daily crew safety meetings, creating work orders and organizing daily work, performing daily operational communication meetings, and reporting directly to the UG Maintenance Superintendent in the absence of an on-shift supervisor within the department.

The anticipated salary for this position will be between $130,000 to $138,000. A Lead Hand Top-Up of $5,500 will be in addition to the anticipated salary.
