Job Description - UX / UI Designer

Your primary role is to create amazing user experiences. You wake up feeling inspired every day, looking for opportunities to inject our clients' brand and business strategy into all their digital experiences. Not afraid to evolve with technology platforms and trends. You have a good understanding of UX/UI, mobile-first and responsive design principles, with the ability to iterate digital solutions efficiently and intelligently.

Focused on user-centered design processes, you will play a supporting role in creating intuitive and engaging experiences for our diverse range of clientele. Your role demands a high attention to detail; and a nimble, practical, entrepreneurial approach and spirit. We operate in a fast-paced environment - which means wearing many hats, being able to change direction quickly, and showing an eagerness to learn as the need arises. You must be able to prioritize, multitask, and deliver.

Skills:

  • Creation of website/app user interface designs.
  • Execution of all visual design stages from concept to final hand-off, providing development with appropriate mock-ups and style guides.
  • Provide support in UX research, site audits and report creation.
  • Work with the Senior UX/UI designer to develop sitemaps and wireframes to effectively communicate proposed information architecture.
  • Understand the project lifecycle, from discovery & research, through information architecture and visual design, to development, content entry, quality assurance, and deployment.
  • Basic understanding of user research and how to leverage best practices in user interface design.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years' experience as a UX/UI designer using the above noted skills.
  • Proficiency in UX tools (e.g., Adobe XD, Figma), with the ability to learn new tools/software as needed.
  • A digital portfolio of your design work to share on your application.
  • Familiarity with WCAG accessibility guidelines and implementation of best practices in accessible design.
  • Basic understanding of SEO best practices.
  • Knowledge of CMS platforms (i.e. WordPress, Drupal, etc.) so you can design within the constraints of the platform and contribute to content layout and review activities.
  • Basic understanding of HTML and CSS is a plus, to better understand the impact of your design choices on the development effort.
  • Degree or certificate in Psychology/Anthropology/Sociology, Computer science, Communication Design, Information Science and/or industry recognized UX certification.
