Verafin - Software Developer Specialist Data Intelligence

As a Software Developer Specialist you'll play a critical role in building and scaling Nasdaq's big data pipeline infrastructure to support business-critical insights. You will design, implement, and optimize data lake solutions that power global markets.

Key Responsibilities 

• Design, develop, and optimize enterprise-scale data pipelines using Apache Spark, Iceberg, Databricks, and AWS services to ensure accuracy, consistency, and performance across terabyte-scale datasets 

• Participate in architecting scalable solutions for extracting, transforming, and loading structured and unstructured data using modern data lake patterns 

• Partner with analytics teams, and business stakeholders to deliver high-quality data solutions from raw data to consumable data marts 

• Monitor data pipeline performance and implement improvements that support scalability. 

• Mentor team members and conduct code reviews to maintain engineering excellence. 

Required Qualifications 

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience. 

• 3+ years of hands-on experience with big data cloud-based technologies. 

• Solid understanding of AWS.  

• Experience building projects with Databricks and Iceberg is a requirement for this role. 

• Working knowledge of Python and Java with experience in ETL workflows. 

• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to manage priorities in a collaborative environment. 

Preferred Qualifications 

• Leadership experience or strong mentoring background with demonstrated ability to guide architectural decisions. 

• Experience with Terraform and infrastructure-as-code practices. 

• Familiarity with cloud security architecture. 

• Experience with modern BI tools and semantic layer technologies. 

• Prior experience supporting production-grade systems in cloud environments. 

This position will be located in St.John’s or Toronto and offers the opportunity for a hybrid work environment at least 3 days a week in-office, subject to change, providing flexibility and accessibility for qualified candidates.
